Help Xbox stuff

Ok, so my mate just got the new model 360 and I'm buying his old one. Now since I'm a complete noob with the 360, how so I go about wiping all his ID's and stuff off it and setting up a new ID for myself?

Well emptying the HD is pretty straightforward, go to menu and delete

Don't know about deleting IDs, think it's the same, just from the ID menu. Don't know if you have to though.
