Does Live renuw your Gold membership automatically? If so, how does one cancel it and just renuw it manually (like on DAOC)

Iirc on my membership it didn't automatically renew, had to buy another one from Game But others I know have had the auto-renew, I think its the different type of card you buy, not 100% sure
