So im planing on buying a Xbox 360 since "PES 6" and
"Gears of War" is soon released. But im not sure about
what stuff i need besides the "basic" gear. I decided so
far on.

Xbox 360 premium version
12 month Live membership
2000 live points
joypad recharger thingie

what else is needed for top quality picture and gaming ? :)
And also, how does the "Live" thing work, just connect
the ADSL cable i use to my puter to the xbox ? Can i surf
the net "normally" ie visit websites, download stuff etc ?
Never had a Xbox be4 so any info from some1 who has 1
is appreciated. And Gears of War is gonna be sooooo good ;)

Get advanced scart cable if your television doesn't have component-in or VGA-cable if you prefer to use monitor for screen. Personally I wouldn't bother with Xbox360 without HDTV and 5.1-sounds :p

You can stream movies, music and tv via your home network from your pc to your xbox if you are using windows MCE.

If you are using XP you are only able to stream music + pictures.

Also, if you are using ADSL then you need a router to enable your pc and your 360 to get net access. Your usb adsl modem wont work with the 360 (if you use one)

With Vista or Media Center yeah, with normal XP only pictures and music.

You get a manual with your 360 :)

Read it :p

If you have a router, you can plug in your 360 via ethernet, if you use an adsl modem then you require a router in place of that adsl modem.

For the streaming side there seem to be a fair few issues - was going to buy one until I started reading up on it and the fact you need Media Centre Edition to get the most out of it... As for the rest of it..dunno tbh - I only wanted one for media streaming and built a pc media centre myself instead.

It indeed does suck that you need MCE for video streaming and to watch xvid stuff you need 3rd-party program (transcode360) ;/

Aye read about that - you would think ..actually I was going to say you would think Microsoft would test it etc and sort stuff like that out...but then I realised I was talking about Microsoft. :twak:

Im pretty sure divx however is a proprietary codec, much as WMV is for Microsoft hence why it natively supports only WMV. Saves them licensing fees :p.

As for 360 online, great fun especially on certain games.

You can buy a switching box, I think I bought mine from Maplin (It was a long time ago now). It has 3 switchable optical inputs (and obviously one output)

remember to post your gamertag (if you've got one ofc) on the console forum :) there's a sticky thread for them. It would be cool if we could make some FH games.
