...I need plats because I am stuck.... but I do not want to the player rip off that we all know!
There is nothing illegal in buying plats...
When you go to Germany, you need to buy EURO! Plats is a currency like another one, at least, this is my call on this. I am earning £ and I am willing to exchange it against another currency which is required for me to continue leaving in that country / world.

More specifically, try and trade a DAOC account here and you could well find yourself banned (and your soul sold to Deebs, also known as The Devil). We'll be happy to extend sentences in hell to people who wish to try to trade in things we haven't yet envisaged also, so be it husband or wife, or even mother in law, or anything else you try to trade, we MIGHT slap a ban on your head if we think it's needed. In other words, we don't really want people trading here

This has nothing to do with Daoc being real, it has something to do with going against CoC .. You play a game, it has rules ... as simple as that.
Further more Gamah is somewhat retarded to post that link here, as it is encouraging use of an illegal site, that sells plats.

I have no idea how things stand with regards to buying Im just wondering cos I dont know myself 
I imagine its prolly similar situation as it is with selling, maybe both parties involved in the selling/buying process would be in trouble? I just dont know .

It's against the game's code of conduct, and since we are still the 'unofficial official' DAOC boards we will stand in alignment with GOA's code of conduct here.
Furthermore, I will add that those of you posting here saying 'it's only a game, stuff the CoC' are the kind of players with disregard for the game's rules. I venture to say that they are the kind of players more likely to abuse bugs for their own gain ingame or use cheats and so on. I know which side I would prefer to err on.
