The Reserve Price is not meant to be revealed during the auction (don't you ever do e-Bay?)

It was lodged with an independent player and was 44p.

Arti is on my cm at my price - if you don't want to pay it, then don't. It's easy enough to support the BoZ raids for several weeks and win it.

Gimmli seems to think items should be sold to him at prices dictated by himself and is p*ssed because I wouldn't reduce for his convenience. It's sad, but not surprising, to see such qq, but it's only him stamping his little foot. Best to ignore it - I do.

Greed

greed at it's worse

An open message to the above named - totally unknown to me btw. All I can assume is that you are aligned with the Gimmli/Sentimos axis, which if you knew anything about the game puts you in a very tiny group.

Might I suggest that before shouting your mouth off you take the trouble to examine my cm a little more closely? Before clustering made it extremely time consuming, I adjusted my CM prices every day, so that the vast majority of my prices were the lowest on ME. This is no bs - just go and look. The only exceptions are when the next lowest price is a good friend, or when I'm after a particular sum on a scarceish item. If this is being greedy, then I suppose I must be. But since I have given away (and not to guildies either) several of the last artis I have won on a Tuesday or Saturday's raids, I don't feel that trying to sell one occasionally is anything to feel bad about. How many Jacina's sashes have YOU given away recently? I'm surprised that your universal benevolence is not better known.
I would consider my trading to be both fair and successful, and judging by the number of returning customers this does not seem wide of the mark. I don't remember twisting anyone's arm to visit my cm - if you don't want to pay the lowest prices on either server, stay away. I can assure you I won't notice your absence.

Because, my unobservant little lamer, you may not have noticed that the availability of items on ME varies not only from day-to-day, but from hour to hour. For instance, just before the cluster outage there were NO more BoZ up for sale except mine. Just before I set up my auction the same was true - and the last one had just been sold for 39p. I'm not going to change the auction rules half-way through to suit a misfit whiner, to mislead those who bid already or to reflect changes that took place afterwards. You might like to note that as it didn't sell, I'm the one who lost out - nobody else. Oh, and the guy who tried to beat down my price and abuse me at the same time.
And I would suggest that if you think prices in housing are no-fuss and constant, then stick to mob-bashing, cos you sure aint gonna make it as a trader.
As to what goes through my head? Mind your own business and leave mine to me. Most people seem to like the way I do it.

Well, at least that's a sensible suggestion but is only one way of conducting an auction.

Useless thread? I think not - it served to bring one or two creatures out of the woodwork if nothing else, along with several comments from people who seem to have not sold anything, ever.
It makes me laugh to get advice on how to conduct my business according to how a buyer would like it - as if I were some sort of 1p house-merchant with 3 items on my cm. They don't seem to grasp simple trading facts - you will NOT be successful with inflated prices, greed or inflexiblity. I'll haggle with anyone over my quoted prices, but they won't get much out of me if it's coupled with abuse.

I dont want to comment on whether or not your "reserve" price for the item was reasonable or not, I am happy anyway as despite not making your "reserve" I was able to buy the artifact for 35p from a CM. It is entirely up to you what you charge for the items you sell.

I do however, think though that people are right to criticise your "reserve price" strategy. I am not sure what exactly the point is of having a reserve price that is a secret from people wanting to buy an item from you. Common sense suggests that it is far more intelligent to put in a start price of the minimum you would be willing to sell for, then if people want to pay that price for your item they bid an if they dont they wont bid. This after all seems to be what people are critisising you for, the greed comment is coming from the fact that it appears you just decided not to sell because you saw someone else sell one for 39p.

First of all I'm not sure where you get the nerve to put me on the Gimmli/Sentimos axis rofl .. that has to be the most hurtfull thing someone has ever said to me! ;)

Second of all I don't know you either hence I have no idea about your universal benevolence. (for the record I have given away several 100 plat worth of items over the last month alone to a couple of friends new to Midgard/Excalibur... and I've given away 3 Jacina's Sash's that I can think off right now... any more questions?)

However what I do know is that you make an auction on FH with no reserve price .. you then mention that "you saw one go for 39 plat" ... suggesting that that might be your reserve price without actually confirming it. Then somebody bids 33 (which is a pretty fair price if you ask me for an encounter of which the difficulty is hugely overrated... like Jacina's Sash I might add) and then you withdraw the auction.

As you may have noticed I'm not the only one thinking that was a pretty wank thing to do so I'm not sure why you're getting your panties all bunched up when people question your methods.

If you're not greedy then I apologise for calling you greedy ... but do realise that to an "outsider" (someone not aware of your universal benevolence) you look like a greedy git.

Are you fucking Insane? Gimmli did not QQ, I was talking to him and looking at his screen when he said you are trying to arse rape people and ported to excal housing and bought it for 10 plat cheaper. For some weird reason you always seem to put me in your posts when I have never even spoken to you in game :eek6: .

I couldn't agree more. People are free to voice whatever opinion they happen to hold - even those who cannot express themselves without using obscenities, or are unable to maintain a consistent level of argument without personal abuse. I do not necessarily agree that they should carry equal weight though. And if the holder of them breaches the CoC, then they run the risk of being silenced. Their problem, not mine.

Reserve prices are a standard method in rl auctions such as e-bay and a couple of negative comments about my use of the method here will hardly change that.

As I've said elsewhere, people have a perfect right to question whatever they want, and far from getting het up about a couple of negative comments, I welcome any feedback presented in a civilised manner. Similarly, with disgruntled boors, I'll take 'em on until a Moderator will no longer tolerate rheir posts.

However, I will not be called a greedy (git) without making any comment until all the evidence is in. If you checked out my CM (and forget the smarmy comments about the sort of house I have when someone has well and truly lost his previoius argument) and still thought I was 'arsesraping', and you were one of a bunch of players, and I was unable to sell anything because of my inflated prices - then I might have to re-think my trading strategy. Until that time I'll carry on as I am doing, thank you very much.

I didn't call you a greedy git I told you that to people who aren't regular receivers of your universal benevolence you look like one because of what you did in this thread. I'd never call people names on a forum I don't care enough for it. :p

And my comment about greed, as explained in my last reply, was purely aimed at what happened in this thread. No reserve --> reasonable price offer --> you withdraw auction because of a hidden reserve. If you can't see that that may look iffy then you're not the businessman you claim to be. Just suck it up and go on mate.

Stop looking for a fight where there are none or you might end up in one.

.....I thought that was the general idea of looking for one. I don't need to look, they come looking for me - and I'm quite happy to oblige that sort of person. ;)
