Am I right in thinking that for teaching (and other similair public services where background checks, such as crb and child protection etc. are required), previous employers are legally obliged to provide a reference at least stating compliance with professional standards?

Nor me, and I work in schools with children. Just a standard CRB signed off by current employer.

You need a CRB if you are going to be left alone with children, or a 'list 99' if you are helping with other adults.

But there is a huge national change coming in where information is shared nationally and is alot more detailed for anyone who may potentially be alone with children -due to Jessica and Hollie's murder by the school caretaker, Ian Huntley.

Why do you ask Bugz?
