how do you know ?

Lots of the Blizzard Europe people are Vivendi people (hence it being based in France) and I've already begun to hear horror stories from insiders about them...

wow wins cause of:

1. better engine just runs smoother
2. atmosfeer finaly normal music and REAL WARCRAFT style
3. WoW is already more advanced then daoc even though daoc is out for 3 years
4. Good and fun questing system
5. Better balancing classes
6. A provider that cares about there customers
7. Better support ingame

well i can keep this going for a list to about 2000 but ill keep it short that said wow is just so much more better then daoc in every damn way

1. aye
2. dunno, never played with sound on :x
3. i doubt you are able to judge that from your lowbie beta toon.
4. agree, but it will grow old. especially the ones that require a fg or more.
5. you mean the entire TWO classes that are different between the realms? and both are pretty overpowered? xD
6. beta, dunno.
7. beta, dunno.

with that said, ill probably try it for a month when it hits EU cause beta was rly fun. another thing thats really fun is the morons playing their lowbietoons in beta saying "omg omg omg best balance and questing ever". the pve will grow old and i have absolutely no idea how the non-zerg pvp will be in wow.

ye and the pve in daoc is so versatile and fun after 2.5 years of grinding, i mean u really know what u are talking about, and for the morons that gonna whine about the pvp system rtfm WoW is so much better then daoc and its not live yet and daoc been live for what 3-4 years and they still havent managed to balance it any way close to what WoW is or gonna be.
"non-zerg pvp" in daoc since NF came where ?
then again comparing a beta to a 3 year old game and the 3 year old game comes up short in many areas good work mythic daoc is walking the same way UO walked when daoc was released.

i remember logging into daoc seeing +2800 ppl on excal i told my mates hmm excal gonna be full someday we better start lvl'ing chars on pryd now i see at primetime 1800 excal and like 1000 at best primetime pryd...

i wasn't too keen on wow graphics from looking at screenshots, but i really love it now :) i logged back into daoc after over a month off, and i much prefer wows graphics to new frontiers

there still needs to be balancing of the classes but i'm really enjoying it at the moment

anyone who has played EQ2 and WOW like to make some comparisons?

Some thing with EQ2 me get a headache. In EQ2 you are mostly forced to grp. Xp is better in grps, Heroic chains often require 2-4 other classes to do a style to finish the chain. the questing is quite good, sometimes you totaly lost, but a few quests you can press the way..something button and get a highlighted way to your quest task. The xp for finding new areas is high.
Only played to lvl 15 in beta and have a lvl 5 now. but since i played WoW it is just so much better that i cant realy play EQ2 anymore :p

Elite quests in WoW kinda forces u to grp but i dunno if that is a bad thing in a mmorpg seeing as that is the fundamental idea or thought behind the whole thing.

but if u dont like it u can allways chose other quests that u can solo.

or u dont have to quest at all i mean u can do it the daoc way just bash on mobs with out straining 1 single brain cell its slow though and questing makes u travel and see more of the land, sure daoc got quests but hardly anything near the simpler wow quests either in thought or action ofc this is only my opinion and opinions vary alot :)

WoW doesnt force it self onto any 1 so those that feel like daoc gives u a good challenge go ahead play daoc and those that feel like me that daoc got nothing more to give me play WoW cause its such a good game both PvE and PvP and it aint live yet :)

I really enjoyed WoW... i can see them going much teh same way as UO in the future.. haveing a mirror realm (in UO it was Felucia) where PvP can be done freely against anything that moves... but in the normal side (in UO it was Tramel) u can only PvP against horde (in UO it was waring guilds)... i think in general WoW has taken some great ideas from other games.. such as porting.

The PvP kinda reminded me of UO also btw.. in that it all came down to who could kite the best.. and who could use the available terrain best (hideing behind trees etc), alot of fun and required an element of skill.. not just stick.. and anytimer.

imho WoW >>> DAoC atm.... not just because the later has become stale but because there is equal balance between the horde and alliance (although Paladins are sooo overpowered, and i never tried a shammie to compare)

hehe as a horde shammy i have to say paladins is one of the worst enemies iwe meet in the game but its allways been a very close fight sure i could kite with my earthbind totems but the paladin can take so much punishment that i could dump twice my mana bar on him with out stopping the damn thing much :)

horde got shamans totems kite and insta dd's but hmm paladins is my arch nemesis and even though he aint that dmg orientated its like 50 50 in a 1 on 1 very well balanced if u ask me.

and i love it that u can actually kill ppl a few lvl's above u as well ok those players might not be the best there is but as a lvl 35 its like impossible to kill even a retarded lvl 50 daoc player.

Great game so far, enjoyed every second of it, havent really found some major things that annoyed me. While meny quests just are kill task like daoc, they allmost allways envolve into other stuff that makes you discover new areas getting new weapons etc.

I got lvl 20 on my rouge before they closed the beta, and not one single time in those 20 levels i just xp'ed "Daoc style" slaying same mobs over and over, was all done by quest and not a single time it got booring :)

Really like the GFX they the soroundings are simply amazing, love how they made it all seem alive small animals birds stuff like that makes the world seem very stunning

I cant really say anything about PvP since i only have tried it very little, but i like the general fighting style of the game, and it seems to have great potential.

But tbh i loved daoc just as much when it first came out, but been playing allmost since release, so i startet getting bored and taking longer and longer brakes.

And now when i log into daoc it just feels wrong, i just stand there then talk a bit with friends they logging out again without moving a inch ^^

So unless PvP is booring as hell Wow will make a worthy replacement for the great game daoc is!

cya all out there, On either my mage or my rouge :)

Played a priest and rogue to ~20 on open beta and was impressed by the gfx, quests and gameplay. There is no class that isnt fun.

Blizz have admitted on many occasions that the end game is unfinished so the jury is still out on that aspect but so far pvp has been fun but a bit chaotic.

Its early days for wow but in some ways thats one of the reasons its worth playing it. I would say that blizz has learned from other mmorpgs.

Its worth noting tho that "hardcore" pvpers often play a minor role in the minds of games developers these days and wow is being marketed towards a wide audience including many who will be new to mmorpgs.

Tbh after wasting many hours of my life in the tedium of xping artis and the mess that myth have made of daoc, a game which involved pressing the enter key to purchase a dead cat for £8 a month which you wud recieve thro the post 3 days later would be more inspiring.

Sensible Soccer > daoc anyway :p

i think most ppl will agree that many ppl will leave daoc for WoW me one of em yey daoc will prob not die cause of me leaving or a few with me but hmm primtetime right now dont come close to 2000 on excal bleh and ofc new ppl join but come on lvl'ing a char with out pl and then getting scrolls/artis/mls will take another big chunk of time and hmm if a mmorpg cant produce enough ppl at primetime for a decent and fun enough experince it will die out in the end and daoc will do just that they might release a 100 catacombs the end result is still clear.
there are 2 english servers and atm both of em at prime time dont even come close to 3.5k the limit for 1 server the last time i checked.

hey UO i still active and they try their best releasing the more obscure addon after the other come on that will not cut it we as addictive mmorpg gamers might be addicts and abit slow but we are not stupid far from it.

dunno if any of what iwe said fitt into the topic since im way to drunk atm ill just admit my post any waay

/disclamer notice im immune to bs so dont bother agree with me or stfu :Þ

Agree, at lvl 16 with my rogue i killed a lvl 32 mage becouse he couldnt land a style on me :) . with my warloc i killed a rogue 9 lvls higher, but also almost got killed by one that was 5 lvls lower.

WoW >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > > > >> > > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > > > > > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > > > > > > DAoC

After almost 2 years of daoc, I got sick of it even before WoW closed beta started.

WoW is far more superior from daoc for 1000 reasons.

The only thing I can't say about is the PvP rewards that havent been patched up yet.

And trust me, PvP in WoW is really really fun. 1qbar not enough xD

Thinking of ML's and xping artifacts make me wanna :puke:

That's cause people thought SWG >>>>>>>>>>> DAoC even before they had actually played the game properly.

WoW

For the short period of time I tried wow I must say I'm impressed. I will leave daoc asap wow hits us :)
And oc some stuff wont be perfect in the beginning, but I hope Blizzard are better than Mythic to understand their own game and make good changes.
Only fear I have is concering PVP atm. PVP death ought to mean you start at the spirit dude and no chance to run and to resurrect your corpse by yourself.

Maybe daoc is worth returning to when the expansion after catacombs are released. NF feels like a disappointment to assassins.
