Like you guys all know the game called World of Warcraft just got released about 3 hours ago, and it's going to be some hard days for DaoC , cuase like WoW is new , many people will move into WoW to try it or to stay forever . So even if our population gets lowered , lets keep up the fun in the best way possible :) - DAoC is just the best game many of us we have played , so like the title post says, Long Live Camelot !!

To be honest , i have heard many people think DAoC is going to get down a lot in population , maybe it's true cause the big impact of WoW , and because many players want to try something new , but daoc has been - is - will be the best mmrpg game that has been released out. It mixes a great system of Battles and stuff that it has made it so great :) - of course it lacks the intense and fun of maybe the first or second year of it, but it's a great game yet .

Only thing making me stay in Camelot is the fact I dont think I could find a great RvR perspective... Keep takes, seiges, etc... best thing I could think of possible to involve PvP.

Might try WoW out later though as I was in the closed Beta and it was sorta fun, though low lvl PvE doesnt really interest me. (Hence only having 3 lvl 50s in a whole 3 years).

Hi Dom :)

I agree WoW isnt the best thing out there, but bare in mind its not all about the game Dom.

Im off to play wow for two reasons, main one being most of the guys I played long time daoc from beta are there theres no substitute for that kinda fun its the folk behind the toons that make logging on worthwhile.

WoW wont ever be daoc but for the immediate now its deff a better option

Agreed, DaoC is a great game in many ways, the RvR/PvP system is one of the best in all MMORPGs. For now it seems that WoW will take a big crunch of the active player database, but that might be temporary, WoW is a good game. But let's just admit it, it's not all that great

Yes, I can't deny that statement. I've played alot of mmorpg's and none compare to the PvP system, the easy interface which is simple and mechanic.
I've seen the pvp in Wow and it is quite honestly pathetic. The caster in the video does nothing but run fowards at the enemy, cast his spell, run backwards (which is same speed as running forwards).
We're in for some hard times ,but i hope with the release of catacombs (next month est.) it'll get back up in population.

Guess many ppl wont agree with you. As an ex-daoc player i 1st thought i might come back to the game i loved once. After some months out, now i know the chances of coming back are tiny. Dont think a pve expansion is gonna lure the old players back, mebbe new players, but imo not the ones who left due to the reason that has been discussed here over n over

Edited: soz realized after reading it twice u might be talking in gral and not only about ex-players

catacombs dragged quite some players back on us, so probably will do the same on eu. imo catacombs is nice (new classes), and the new dungeons and all the quests make it soo much easier to lvl

hopefully WoW will take a big chunk of the albion population. That would be the best thing for DAoC as i think that would bring a few hibs and mids back.

I still enjoy DAoC after so long from about 1.45 patch, so ages and still having fun here and there, but ofc it has its ups and downs, like any game. :)

PS. WoW zzZZZzzz :p

I've played Blizzard games before. Just wait, in 6 months it will prolly
be hacked and exploited like Diablo 2. :(
Hopefully not, but my guess is that it will be that way.

Im staying with Daoc. Great game, I see no reason to leave. :)

both are good :)

Good grief, I agree with Jika :)

Don't see them really as in competition. At the moment I'd say WoW PvE is much more interesting, but that's largely because it's new and unfamiliar. PvP... DAoC is still by far the better game. But both are fun.

Most people who wanted to leave for WoW already did with the closed/open beta. So we wont notice a huge drop in numbers from now tbh, also what does WoW got to match the PvP in DAoC? Long live Jordheim! xD

the patches up to catacombs make daoc a much more friendly place to start out in - it won't really be able to compete with the "new shiny" factor though... WoW is new and unexplored.

That said Catacombs is new and unexplored too and great fun to level up in - though the people that just PL the new class to 50 and sprint out to RvR going "look at me I pwn" will miss it.

My roommate plays FFXI and the graphics are amazing, and I am in awe of some of the armors and stuff, its a really nice looking game, and some funny things like if your a high crafter, you get too wear cool matrix like glasses :p

I think the main things I'm looking forward too is the character update, cos I been meaning too get rid of my beared for a while now, not even rightnowing it helped. I think that alot of people may re-roll too other realms, balancing it out a bit.

Alb pop isn't as high as it used to be and isn't the cause of the problem - the low mid/hib numbers have been caused by other reasons (though recently seems to have picked up a bit). The answer isn't to cull alb pop :twak: , need other solutions to boost hib/mid pops. Clustering in US seem to be working so far - time will tell if it's the long term solution.

Or fall in shadows in a couple of months when everyone is level 60 and bored.

why would people get bored? loads of specialist crafts to take up, plenty of dungeons to raid for uber items, other classes to roll, battlegrounds comming soon! people will come back to daoc, but i'd take a guess at under 25% of them
