For those who like numbers, I've started to take out some server stats:

The numbers are taken out from both Alliance and Horde, only on PVP servers (snapshot of server population with less than 10mins delay between the realms):

PVP Server 10 :

Horde: 991 players
Alliance: 954 players

CLASSES:

Horde:

Druid: 8%
Hunter: 11%
Mage: 9%
Priest: 8%
Rogue: 18%
Warlock: 10%
Warrior: 16%
Shaman: 16%

Alliance:

Druid: 9%
Hunter: 15%
Mage: 12%
Priest: 6%
Rogue: 18%
Warlock 8%
Warrior: 12%
Paladin: 16%

RACES:

Horde:

Orc: 20%
Tauren: 22%
Troll: 23%
Undead: 33%

Alliance:

Dwarf: 19%
Gnome: 13%
Human: 33%
Night Elf: 33%

Highest level online:
Alliance: 33
Horde: 36

To make this more accurate, maybe some other ppl that know how to do it can help as well. I will add stats from the other servers as well, when I have time.

If you did this by using Cosmos, they are in no way accurate.

I did the same on the Closed beta server (PvE) the 2nd or 3rd day after the Final beta started (using Cosmos) and the tally came to 1575 Alliance and 800 or so horde. Thought it was funny at the time :)

It is still a fair indication though, shocked about the Horde races stats. On Final Beta Server 6 it seems we have prodominently more orcs then other races..

Because nobody likes being a short arse ;) Also Gnomes in WoW look a bit gay... just need them to do some Larry Grayson / Mr Humpries style emotes and they would have it down to a tee .

More servers coming soon, but as I am looking through the infos, it seems that Rogue is THE FOTM right now, followed closely by Paladin and Shaman. How unexpected actually. :)
Wonder if Hunter will catch up with them, because they are the most played class in US (but those stats include PVE servers, which I won't bother with).

PVP Server 6 updated (@~22:00 CET) :

Horde: 1234 players
Alliance: 1504 players

Rest didnt change much.

Highest level online:
Alliance: 38
Horde: 43

I made another count on this server just to see if the population disparity is sustained.

There you have it folks. I think we can draw some conclusions from these infos:

- overall there is a quite good realm population balance at this stage
- the most played classes without an order are: Paladin, Shaman, Rogue
- the least played classes are: Warlock, Priest, Druid
- undead is the most played race
- gnome is the least played race

Ok, this is another server with population imbalance in the favor of the Alliance and it's also the biggest I've found yet on EU PVP Servers.
So I guess it isn't all fair after all. :)

This is a prediction based on my US experience to date - and I am currently in the US so this is 'prime time observation stuff': I wouldn't worry about class distribution that much, or even Alliance/Horde.

Whilst there will be some 'preferences' appearing at first once things get going the impact of multiple characters will begin to be felt.

1. A result of it being 'much easier' to level is that people will be able to have multiple characters and play on both realms. This allows you to see all the zones, do all the quests, experience all the classes etc.

2. The usefulness of crafting will eventually kick in and people will start to create alts to make potions, make armour/bags, enchant things etc. Obviously having an initial main that can funnel items/money down will help but even at level 10 crafters can churn out some useful stuff.

Like I said, Cosmos is bullshit.
Cosmos has so much junk in it, that statistic thing can not me correct, and I know certain bugs/exploits who are only enabled when you use Cosmos, don't see why Blizzard allows that piece of shit addon.

The numbers are rounded, they should have some decimals, but as interface doesn't show them I didn't bother with that either, because I don't think it's important.
