Until now I've always eaten bran flakes partly because I like them, but mainly because I've always seen them as the healthy option, but I've now found out that they have nearly 3 times as much sugar as normal corn flakes, so its back to them for now.

Marketing is such a con.

I eat weetabix with hot milk on freezing winter mornings to give me fuel.

In the summer I usually just like to have fresh fruit for breakfast.

when i feel the need (if you know what i mean) i have all bran (asda or teco own brand lol) with honey squidged over it and seeing as im not actually on a diet i shall continue to do so.

worst cereal ever (rofl sound like the comic book guy off the simpsons there) and i dont mean in fat/salt content but just in that its such a dissapointment and is really blah is those mini cookie cereals you look at the box and you think aww neat! little choccy chip cookies and its a cereal!! any hoo we made the mistake of buying them and they are not infact cookies, theres nothing vaguely cookieish about the miserable little bastards, its a fake and i for one was thoroughly distraught.

dunno how this has got into all the papers n shit tbh.
not exactly a shock as this info is currently all displayed on the side of the box.
they clearly state how much of the total carbohydrate is from sugar an how much from starch as well as fat content n calories etc. folks just like to jump on the bandwagon with the 'omgz i never knew! they r secretly killing us with ze cereals!' bollox.
if anyone was really bothered they coulda just looked at this info whilst in the supermarket and compare em.
not sure bout the older generation but most kids nowadays are taught some sort of food studies and so have some grasp of what is good and bad for u.the 'general public is made up of retards who cant understand info on packets lets put traffic lights on em' idea bloody annoys me.if folks are that much a bunch of mongs they arent gonna be able to understand what the colours mean anyway.

anyhow on a lighter note i suffer from multiple cereal disorder, currently my cupboard includes:
corn flakes
crunchy nut cornflakes
weetabix
rice crispys
porridge oats
special k
bran flakes
muesli
choco rice crispys
bite size shreaded wheat
variety is the spice of life n stuff...:D

Oatso simple! Used to have Shredded Wheat a bit before that.

I'm quite shocked at the amount of sugars in the majority of these cereals, 75% of them having too much sugar. People recommend that you should always start the day with a good breakfast, but you may as well go without if you eat one of those cereals! Horrifying to see that 90% of childrens cereals have excessive amounts of sugar as well.

unless you eat spoons of sugar during the day i dont know why are you concerned about the amount of sugar in your cereal.

here is an extract from panda soft drinks -

"Q. How much sugar is in Panda drinks?

Although we don't add any sugar to Panda drinks, fruit juice naturally has some sugar in it. However the amount of sugar is very low (0.5 gram per 100 mls). As you'll see on the nutrition panels on our bottles, this equals only 12 calories per bottle. For comparison, the recommended daily consumption is 2000 calories and 90 grams of sugar (Guidelines Daily Amounts). "

so your basic cereal has 5grams of sugar, so freaking what? unless you are eating food like a wild pig scoffing every snack in sight i cant see what the issue is :)

I dunno what this obsession with "the right option is"

aslong as you eat a little bit of everything (fat / sugar etc included) you should be of average weight overall.

People who live on salad and "healthy options" are likely to be less healthy than the average person eating a mix of beef, potatoes and some vegetables because its all balanced.

Everything is "Good" for you, in the right amount.

I pretty much eat what I like when I like and I think it turns out pretty balanced.

Ok, there are times when I seem to eat alot more junk food but I start to feel like crap pretty quickly and catch on so I go back to eating normally again.

The one bit I know I could do with more of is my 5 portions of fruit/veg but I'm working on that :)
