I get slagged off loads for being called Tom, but tbh only retards use names like 5l4y3R - and other crap. Changing my name wouldn't improve my game, in fact, it tends to make it worse, because one way I know an enemy has died is through the indicators top right, which I usually see in my peripheral vision.

FCUK was designed to halt flagging sales of French Connection gear, which it did, and very well too. It's just a pity for them that not everybody out there is stupid enough to believe that walking around with a large logo/advert on your clothes will gain you extra friends.

You might laugh, but I've bought some great gear from Debenhams, for much less than that branded crap. I buy clothes that are well made, comfortable, and fashionable, in roughly that order.

Yes but that wasn't the issue, the issue is about abuse on servers, you quickly rounded the issue to involved between the two, there not. Yes the game carrys a ingame content level, but swearing and abuse on servers is a totally diference issue and shouldn't be connected to each other.

Doesn't matter if you 14 or 40, you still don't want to see it happening:p

Imho it's just a computer game, however people abusing people on servers, using swear words for names 'shouldn't' be alowed or be tolerated.

If 'you' find that 'retarded', then fs grow up or something.

I completely agree, but the whole point of this thread was that his name wasn't a swear word - it just looked similar to one.

And amazingly enough, telling me to grow up really isn't very productive. My sister used to say that to me at least twice a day and it never affected me then, so it definately isn't going to now. Just because I said something that you don't like doesn't mean I'm being childish.

He was banned for having what the admin considered to be an offensive name which I didn't find offensive in the slightest. It seems strange to me that an admin would so zealously try to protect the players from being offended, in a game where they are trying to blow the brains out of eachother.

Was the name offensive or wasn't it? I don't think it was, you obviously agree with the admin. Shall we agree to differ, or do you want to throw my toys out the window like my sister would.

Any parent who allows unsupervised access to the internet for their children is irresponsible.

Children swear more often than adults.

Swearing is a part of our language.

To deny the above on the pretext of protecting vulnerable minds, is idiocy.


Saying that, it would be very easy for the creators of cs/hl to add a rude word filter.

Adminmod and Clanmod both include a swear filter. The option is there.

No. I find the banning of someone for having a name that was not a swear word, and in my opinion not offensive, is retarded.

I also find your repeated references to age equally retarded. If you can't have a discussion without constantly trying to insult the other person then you sir, are immature and could do with practicng some of what you preach.
