This is what I was getting at when I asked how he knew he had a virus. Try an online virus scan to check such as housecall from Trend micro to check:

Then make sure your virus scanner is fully up to date.

The next person in work who puts a helpdesk through for spoof e-mails saying, "OMG!!! VIRUS!!!! HELP, my mahcine is exploded!!", will die a slow and painfull death
