thats like comparing a F1 car to a road car :s
they are completely different areas of computing (computational computing for science , and your average PC for joe public)

Yes well, an F1 car isn't impressive either. But a good build, nice handling, super roadcar is.

Handling, Build and speed of a F1 car is better than any road car in the situation they are designed for...
Just as super computers are built for a specific purpose (usually number crunching ) the same way a GPU (Graphical Processing Unit), in actuality is faster than the main processor in your machine (nvdia's G92 is rumoured to run at 1 teraflop, i personally dont believe it but its just to illustrate a point)
