I was wondering does anyone out there know what is the name of the sky texture used on Xen in Half-Life (the cool black one with all the stars).I tried searching the xeno.wad file but the sky texture it has is just like a slightly cloudier version of the desert sky texture you usually see when you're outdoors in the Half-Life.It's pretty hard to build a level in space if the sky texture looks disturbingly like earth so any help would be appreciated.

I have 3 pak files and only one of them is for Half-Life ( pak0.pak in the valve folder ).When you say neb7, xen9 and neb6 are you referring to the texture name or the pak file name?

this is what i found

Sky Texture -- making skies in Half-Life --

Apply "sky" texture to the entire brush -- all faces must have the "sky" texture or the sky effect fails. You can have as many sky brushes as you like, within the limits of engine load and good taste. (See also Textures.)

Sky textures require the presence of a light_environment entity in order to simulate sunlight. Doesn't matter where you place it -- the light_environment entity properties do the work.

Set the map properties: in WorldCraft, select Map, then Map Properties. Go to the environment map (cl_skyname) attribute, and type in one of the available sky types:

2desert black dusk neb6 xen10
alien1 city morning neb7 xen9
alien2 cliff neb1 night xen 8
alien3 desert neb2 space

dunno if this helps
