They developed one of these in Wing Commander III. But in that world, theyre about 500 years more advanced than we are heh.

problem with chemical warfare is the distribution method. hard to infect/attack people over a large area. only thing that could work is a virus but most deadly viruses travel through methods that expose it to the outside world, thus, reducing its potential as it becomes immobile

Well, no. The planet is still there, regardless. You're practically saying the other planets in our solar system (or anywhere) don't exist (or were destroyed) because there's no life on them. Not quite.
