Ive said it before here that i think that the world economy will be in ruins before 2010. But right now it seems like things are happening alot faster than that. We could see the real beginning of all of this before 2009.

And you know what? It'll never end.

First it was bad. But we all knew back then that it wouldnt get any worse. Well then it got a little worse. But we knew that this had to be the end of it. Surely nothing can harm our industrial might! But so it happened that it got even worse. But even then we knew that it could not get worse than this. It was time to buy stocks! But then..... it got worse again. And here we are. It cant get worse than this!

Just love it when people who understand nothing about whats happening always keep telling everyone that theres nothing to worry about.

If it were just those "two american thingies" then it probably wouldnt. (even though these are HUGE problems on their own) But those "two american thingies" are just symptoms of much larger issues. And what might that be?

what is your background in global economics and world resources etc that makes you so informed about it?

No it probably will get worse. But all life isn't going to end if the economy collapses. Yes unemployment will go up, business will go under etc etc but society will survive. All you can do is carry on as best as you can!

There are quite a few things between business as usual and the end of all life. (Although, one cant rule out the end of all life either, but more on that later. )

Anyways, i suggest you study the great depression a little bit. Thats whats coming. (And probably more in the long run)

If the situation continues to destabalise, you might see other investment banks - eg Goldman Sachs or JP Morgan struggling. The stars of those institutions - the multi-million dollar bonus investment bankers - may well end up jumping ship to the hedge funds, and then you'll have hedge funds being the new investment bank and bringing stability back. Its going to be very interesting to see what happens to hedge funds over the next couple of quarters. I know a lot of people in Lehmans. Been working in investment banking for 15 years. Tough times.

I have none. But things have been going as predicted for so long that ive begun to believe the rest of it.

Well the different peak oil forums are good sources of information. Some of it comes from there, some of it is my own ideas, some is just common sense.

Oh and i'll only start worrying when the tourists stop coming to visit Britain. Our economy is a tertiary economy if i remember correctly (trying to relive my economics A-level without passin out from tedium) and is based on things like that. Banks do collapse, for example Barings did and the economy didnt collapse, plus people are still buying luxury items, when that stops occuring you gotta begin to worry!
