I always wonder, would Fergie have kept him on the straight and narrow if he hadnt chose Spurs over United?

I think he may well have kept it under control, Gazza was always going off the rails one day but if any manager could get him straight for a while it would be Fergie imo.

What is the difference between the BP spill and Robert Green's spill? Robert Green got a cap for his.

Regarding England, even as a Liverpool fan. Don't they have any better defender than Carra?

well it has to be terry OR carra alongside someone with pace surely and frankly, terry is the superior player of the two. maybe not 2-3 years ago, but definitely now.

To be fair, they've been good this game, and this 2nd half team is hardly italian at all - they are attacking and everything!

Dunno why but this World Cup has done nothing for me so far, have been fortunate enough to have watched every televised match for the last three WC tournaments but this time I have probably enjoyed one game so far. Hasn't turned out to be the football extravaganza I was hoping for, lets hope the quality picks up for the second set of group games.

The ball is defo an issue in that regard, players are struggling to use it as well as the Champions League ball. Going to be very interesting to see what Ronaldo does with it, if anyones striking technique should be able to reap rewards with this design it is his but I have a sneaky feeling that the change in tactile feel from the regular ball is making people uncomfortable which is having an adverse mental effect. The players should have been given that ball months ago really if FIFA wanted a goal-fest.

They used it as their league ball, adidas supplies their league.

I do think it's stupid that in a world cup year, teams have a new ball to contend with, they should have the same ball throughout the qualifying campaign.

I think it´s generally stupid that they´re changing the ball every couple of years. No other sport has so many changes of equipment.

@adidas: I´m pretty sure that other countries had the oportunity to get the new ball in advance too.

It's not that simple Thorwyn, the league's have sponsorship contracts with various suppliers, they cannot just change those because adidas won the world cup ball contract.

I`m not talking about the leagues, I`m talking about the preparation period for the national teams (and the qualifiers).
