First idea that came to mind...shame if it didn't blow, shame if it did.

Not because i find UK anything or something target wise, not because of political views or anything, but because it would've been "cool" to see on the news that london was gasbombed. You know, 9/11 stuff.

the gas cannisters were only there to explode, not to nerve gas us to death.

if it would be cool why not just go to your local shopping mall and blow it up?
After all killing hundreds of innocent people going in to work is mega fun

i wish the people who did this kind of stuff would all start glowing blue so we could identify them and all point and call them wankers when they go past.

fine fine if you imagine that your in some kind of war with this country go blow up a military target fucking cowards though doing bombings in public places like that it reminds me of the sodding 80s when we were getting it from the IRA on the news every bloody week.

take your bombs and your semtex and your dynamite and your propane cannisters and stick em up your arses no one cares about your bloody crusade so piss off! bloody nutters at least tell us why eh? who they are why they decided to try and kill innocent people, what they thought they would achieve but oooh no, just going to fill a car with junk and try do some damage, twat!!! *points, glares, goes red in the face*

sorry i bloody hate this though, i hate people who think its ok to do it (to anyone) and i hate the fact that when i see something like this now it doesnt surprise me any more.

Sorry to nitpick but i dont think its anything to do with a "crusade", they are (sucessfuly) making people aware of their cause.
They cant win in a military war against a country, nor can they preach their wares in public.
I dont like what they do, but i have made a concious effort to try understand why they do it. Something Warlord Bush's advisors should be doing if they actually want to solve these problems (which i doubt, middle east chaos runs in the interest of the US and the powers that be in that region. Just like it does in places in Africa etc... )

*picks a nit*

do you know who did it then?

my post was based on the point that i don't know who did it or why, it could be muslims (its easy to jump to that assumption) but it could be some wackjob whos heard a voice from alien beings and is on a mission to wipe out all commuters...

whoever it is can piss off though, i dont want to understand people who do this kind of thing its cowardly and stupid.

when you wage war you risk making people biased towards you , and in democratic countries noone is innocent.

im not arguing that one or other side is right , just stating the obvious.

No, was talking in general.
The IRA (your example) did it for media attention, the same way Al'Qaeda (however your spell it) etc.. do
You see cowardis, i see desperation

Whats more cowardly, flying over a country carpet bombing whole towns where people cant even fight back, or leaving bombs in public places?
Same shit , different colour

Desperate people do desperate things

Because i don't need to blow things up?

But i can honestly say, i'm not the only one who doesn't care that much if london was bombed, if 9/11 happened, etc.

Bet there are people on these forums who cheered at 9/11 or thought it was cool. Never said "People getting killed is cool and mega fun!" i said it would be cool to see london/any major city bombed. They are very much different things, differentiating yourself from the event and the humanitary losses.

People feel strongly 'cause it's close to you(if they do at all), but people wouldn't give two tosses about it if it was happening in excess amount in iran/irak...no wait..it is.

No, they are just idiots. If they want to raise aweness, bomb thier own fucking people.

I hate with a passion anyone who wants to destory this country. Even worse are those wankers who live here, getting everything they can from the state, yet preach how shit it is. If you dont like it, move back to your third world country and do real work

I dont see your point so reason with it, i think i will bow out of this one :p

Yes that will achieve alot... They would be ignored just like the hundreds of people being killed in Iraq, Afghanistan etc.. everyday
if it happens on the other side of the world it is very easy to ignore it, if it happens in your back yard its a little more difficult to dismiss.

I hate with a passion anyone who wants to destory this country. Even worse are those wankers who live here, getting everything they can from the state, yet preach how shit it is. If you dont like it, move back to your third world country and do real work
Oh the beutiful irony, I dont even know where to begin

OUR army went in to destroy THEIR country, We now own rigts to their major money earner.. oil.
And they cant move back to the third world because the yanks are busy blowing it up.
In addition you want to preserve democracy, yet what happened in Iran? Oh right.. we dont like the leader so they arent allowed a democracy

this despite the fact that your talking out of your arse, alot of the people who "preach how shit it is", are in fact middle class following some charasmatic figure who twists events to their political or ethical standpoint (just like politicians). I hate to break it to you, but this is nothing new.. its been going on since the beginning of civilisation. Just because it doesnt appear in the Sun doesnt mean it isnt happening

This added to the hypocricy that the people who were complaining about free speach, are the same people wanting to take it away from someone else.

I don't see the difference in saying "it would've been "cool" to see on the news that london was gasbombed. You know, 9/11 stuff" and it's cool seeing people get killed. A city is populated with people, if you blow things up in it people are going to get killed..thats what happened in 9/11, was that cool? It does seem you think that as you even relate it yourself.

Seeing buildings get blown up by demolition is a different thing. Thats cool.

No no! No David Bowing! :D

Lemme rephrase, and as always should, keep it simple:

I don't think people dying is cool or mega fun.

I think bombs, bombings and planes on buildings are. I differentiate the two issues. Dying=bad, bombs=cool.

I wasn't the only one who thought the 9/11 Planes on a tower was cool. Didn't think the lives lost was though.

And the last point in my post? That people generally only care(as in the shock/awe manner) about things that matter to them and it shouldn't be taken as an insult if they don't care about your country.

Cool might be a bad word for it, maybe if they had a word like "Holy f*ck i can't believe they actually did that but sure looks amazing.", i'd use that.

Screw that...stand on a balcony, with a scotch in one hand, a cigar in the other and a hooker on your johnson while you nuke a third world country :D

Could that "third world country" be USA? - 'cause then I think you just described my dream.

Explosions in general are just pretty (Note to self: Remove F11 key) I think people allways look at the bad side of them :(

Yes but the consequences they can cause pretty much remove all the beauty of an explosion

I would like to ocmment on my original post, as i've gotten quite a lot of heat about it, that it was not meant as an offense towards the UK, nor would i ever wish for this to actually happen.

I would never want any bombs to go off anywhere, no matter what the place or event.

I simply stated, in my lack of judgement, that the things seen on TV of foreign countries(UK is the same as Irak basicly since it's a foreign place) appear as good entertainment.

I hope noone felt like i was being a total "i hope they blow up someplace" jerk.

Take a look around, ask without asking directly, see peoples opinions.

It's just 'cause this was a local(in a sense) matter, that my comment got such an uproar.

Take irak, iran..hell...the car bomb near my apartment building a couple of years back. Wouldn't be an issue.

Also, read thw whole thread before jumping the gun.

to be fair seel people are gonna read your first post and just be like WTF?? :O like GOMG!

Was very close to coming to some of the conclusions other peeps did but yeh I do agree with you. The event was truly a day which will go down in history and will always be a sad day but the thing was spectacular, so much destructive power in one thing.

Some of the films u see on TV/Cinema though have so many ideas that terrorists could easily lift and adjust, but i'm sure there are things which stop this etc which the punter will not understand

Yeah i completely understand why people got so upset, and in no way am i saying "No f*ck you, just shut up." Noticed it and hopefully corrected my statement to a more understandable view.

Just watching the news, apparently a phone that was on the front seat of that car was picked up by an officer who then belted it off from the car with it.

Kinda heroic :D

A non-english person might think your saying he put the phone in a seat belt to make sure it was secure from the explosion there thad ;o why would he do that?!?

Thanks for correcting your previous statement toht, the way you worded it had too many connotations and most likely would have been taken offensively.

Yeah, it's a culture thing really. People say things in a different way and see it in the way that other people in their world see it. Kinda problematic also to have a flowing/correcting conversation on forums :)

Actually your first line there was about what i thought, well, not so much, but didn't understand what's so heroic about a police officer taking a mobile phone from a car is :D
