Well I have to accrue a grand total of 26 hours within the next 8 days of work if I want Christmas eve and the three non-bank holidays off over christmas. I thought I'd be alright having already gotten 6 days of holiday in preparation for Christmas but today I was given a permanent contract thus, my agency will give me 11 days pay this friday and I'll have a grand total of 6 hours holiday by the time Christmas rolls into view. That doesn't solve the dilemma although the money will be nice! :D

So what would you do? The bosses still have yet to give me a formal induction due to the way that I joined the company and as such, they haven't stipulated the maximum number of hours I can work in a row. Due to the nature of human resources, I could probably get away with any >12 hour shifts either this week or the 4 days of next before being pulled up for it.

So do I do it? I figure two 16 hour shifts, 8 normal and 8 overtime, then I'll only have to work 2 hours extra a day for five of the other days leaving me with no overtime this friday as well as no weekend work...!

I'm no stranger to 12 hour shifts, there is a microwave at work so I can eat there but would you split it equally (or over the weekend also?) or just go mentalist for a few days to get it over and done with?

A 16 hour shift is unhealthy and in some jobs, dangerous.

Christmas is just a silly outdated materialistic celebration stolen from earlier Pagan rituals. It's bollocks.

It's not christmas im hugely thinking about, it's seeing family and friends who I don't really see much other then at christmas... and lets face it, 4 days off, 3 days on, 4 days off or.....12 days straight off. 12 days, yum!

Don't worry about the danger btw, granted I'm working with electronics but there is no danger; it's a sit down job.

Sadly I'm also looking at getting a better contract within the next few days so don't really want to push it with the holiday thing, it's just all happened to happen at the same time, heh.
