Damn right, especially after the disaster that was my degree.

Unfortunately she had a right asshole of a tutor who at the LAST MINUTE refused to support her application to medical school (no time to find someone else) so she's taking a year out and hoping to get some experience in a lab or something to help get her into medical school next year.

Last I heard, she's still undeterred about being a doctor!

she would be better off with volunteer work than lab work, most of the better medical uni's dont take graduates without volunteer experience (which incidently is also probably why her tutor didnt give her a reference, assumably this was explained to her)

Thats a shame elli, tell her to try and get some Healthcare Assistant Work, as its fantastic experience and very hands on/patient contact which med schools love. Volunteer experience is nice, but its more what you learn from your experience than whether you get paid for it or not.
