Just drove home from work on my motorbike with atleast 3 inches of snow on the ground and more falling all the way! It was the first time I'd ever ridden in the snow - even after 3 years of riding and I was pretty nervous!

The bike was slipping all over the place, snow was constantly covering my visor - had to drive one handed half of the journey - one hand on the throttle and one hand doing crazy window-wiper motions to keep it so I could see!

When I went around corners I had to use both hands, and by the time I was half way around most of them I was almost completely blind!

The worrying thing is I was giggling like a schoolgirl the whole way, and at times I was headbanging to the music I had playing in one earphone  think it was just nerves, think I'm half still running on adrenaline because I almost feel like I want to get back on the bike and go somewhere!

A couple of times lorries went past in the other lane and the whole bike slipped sideways across the road as they blasted me with ice and stuff !

Cant get over how lucky I am I didnt fall off - it wasnt all that bad when I first got on the bike but it rapidly got worse and within 10 minutes it was just madness!

Just had to type this out to tell someone! Share your mad travelling-in-bad weather stories here!

Seriously Dukat, dont do that again, its really bad atm

We saw a guy off his bike in the middle of the road yesterday morning on the way to work, the roads were like an ice rink, bike nowhere to be seen, but he had 4 people around him and he wasn't moving too much either

Very scary

its very bad out there atm

I've been driving for just over a year. Couple of weeks ago when it snowed I drove to work. As I tried to pull into the road, I couldn't slow down to stop. I thought I was doomed, as I had no control what so ever. Luckily nothing was in front of me and I gained control after a few seconds!

Still high as a kite heh, yea its not something I'm going to try again any time soon if I can avoid it I think! I really did get that "woo lets go again!" rollercoaster thing after I'd made it back home, was totally soaked through though!

Was a couple of times when I thought I was coming off for sure though, as scary as that was., I was strangely more annoyed at the idea of my bike getting damaged than actually concerned about injury  how materialistic can you get :\

I really do being to understand what people mean about not travelling unless you absolutely have to now. No way I want to take those sorts of risks when there isnt any need to do so.

Normally there's no way I'd ever even think about trying to drive in that sort of weather, but I had to get home from work one way or another, and motorbikes tend to go missing if you leave them outside, so it had to be done really I think.

I just cant stop chuckling though! madness!

I also rode home on my m/bike in the snow

Worst thing wasn't the grip on the roads, it was the visibility. Wipe your visor, and its covered with snow a few seconds later. Don't even get me started on visor mist. Hate riding in the snow.

Yea, was thinking the same in a way, the combination of the bad visibility and mad road conditions just makes for a bit of an interesting journey :D
