Not really, women made a big deal about shaving their legs and armpits etc. decades ago, it's merely the evolution/continuation of said theme. Men have got used to it, and prefer to touch a lady with smooth skin - it's more feminine, and feminity is attractive to men, funnily enough.

It doesn't make us potential paedophiles. If you have never removed your own hair in the first place it probably wouldn't be the issue it is now. Women brought it upon themselves and still do. Most men don't demand women shave and don't notice to the same extent women do. I know my girlfriend sometimes makes comments about how hairy her legs/armpits are when there's nothing there (to my male "SUSPECT" brain).
