Just read my local paper and saw this:

Rapist flees to the continent - Lynn News

I had a drink with this bloke a couple of months ago in my local, talking about motorbikes and random stuff, probably chatted for a good hour or more, never got even an inkling that there was anything untoward about the guy.

Admittedly I was chatting for a relatively short period of time, but it sorta irk's me that I didnt even get a bad vibe off the bloke or anything.

I normally chat with random people in pubs if no one I know is about, sometimes you get the feeling the person you're talking to is a bit scary or something, but this bloke was just like most other old guys you see drinking in rural pubs.

Pretty shocking really - I guess it just goes to show how little you can tell about people... I'm just a bit suprised I guess!

what makes you so sure it's him ?
I see no piccies or such

There was a photo in the newpaper - quite a few people saw it locally, I think he had only lived in the area for a very short period of time - a couple of other people had seen him at the pub I saw him at.

Nasty.

A successful predator is never detectable until after it has taken its victim.

The cleverer sociopaths and psychopaths are often undetectable to the general public unless you know what to look for. The more successful ones are often charming and plausible and give the appearance of successful integration with society.

Its not a reflection on you that you didn't pick up on this guy.

Aye, first impressions and such are complete bullcr*p. People saying "he's a hooligan" for wearing burberry(or some such thing), people calling someone emo, rocker, punk, "discob*tch"(ok that's fair :D) etc.

If i'd take anything away from this, it would be to NOT judge people by appearance.

Where's the fun in that? Plus, it's been proved that we as a species inform our opinions of other human beings in the first few seconds of meeting them. It's human nature!

Plus anyone wearing a burbery cap deserves a good beatin' Unless it's a fit lass.

its shocking when that happens, i saw in the paper a year or so ago that the boy who lived next door to us when i was a kid (I was best freinds with his sister) got arrested for brutal rape of some old lady, was pretty sickening tbh and he was a little git when he was a kid but youd not have guessed that about him, i mean most kids have the element of git about them at some point or other tbh.
