Ok so just rendering my skald video and was wondering if i am rendering at the wrong quality as it's saying like 9h to render a 32 minute video, just in middle of a test render of the 1st 10% of the video which is taking 45 mins or so, is this a normal length for a full screen 1920x1080 video at highest HD wmv quality render or is my computer just slow as hell.

Using Sony Vegas Pro 11.

I guess i will see how the 10% render goes and if it's massive i will have to rethink maybe a lower quality setting any advice is appreciated.

try render it as WMV / 6mbs HD-720-30p - I used that yesterday for a gaming video and it went rather quick tbh, if it takes longer it might be thy laptop :p

well i went to the trouble of recording fullscreen and 60fps so i want as good a quality as possible so 1080-30p if i can if i can get the 32 minute vid down to 800ish mb i will be happy 1.7gig is far too big

You'll get better quality with x264 than wmv, and you'll get a smaller filesize.

Inatalled x264 from soureforge but no matter what i do it doesn't show up in my list of options when i go tor render as.

Sofar tried rendering with plain .avi (requires 230 gigs of hard disk space i don't have) mpeg.2 ( Black bars as no 1620x1080 option) and asi said before wmv which makes an almost 2 gig filesize.

So many crappy codecs :(

It should be already there - either of the arrowed options is x264:

Not in version im running which is 510-511 vegas pro 11, but a friend helped me find a workaround using videos for windows and i configured for x264 now for a 2 pass render, just fiddling with ac3 audio codec now i downloaded and uncompressed it and cant seem to get it to install.

Durrr :(
