Chaps

Got a new lappy and for some reason I cant connect to my WLAN. The laptop is a Toshiba L300/L300D running Vista. My router is a Belkin Wiresless G Plus MIMO.

I have got the laptop so its finds and "Unidentified" network but cant access the net?

I have also changed in the router setting under Wireless so that my router is an access point (enabled) but now cant access my router setting under the default IP

Any help?

reset the router to factory settings (paper clip in hole at back, lights at front will go off, then release the paper clip.

connect the laptop upto the router and go to the routers web interface.

double check your wireless security settings

make sure its broadcasting its SSID

remove ALL found wireless networks from the Laptop (advanced settings in "show available wireless networks")

unplug laptop from router and search for available wireless networks

put security key in

start downloading goat porn

Have you set up the IP address, gateway, DNS etc on the laptop?

If you haven't, then have you enabled DHCP on the router?

Is an IP address being assigned?

If yes, can you ping the router?

If yes, is DNS being assigned?

If yes, can you ping google.com ?

Are you on vista? I've had this once or twice, I think I ended up restarting the machine and the router a couple of times and it sorted it. Expert IT technician, me.
