Witness

Right, I thought i'd amuse myself by asking you lot in here :)

I am to appear in court on the 26th of this month as a witness to an assault on one of my mates. A fairly serious one at that.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. In all honesty I don't care about the court case, but I do have to live in the same town as this ned and am more bothered about him/his family recognising me and giving me a right good doing.

So i'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me if they have been in the same situation and whether or not they recieved a good humping afterwards.

Not quite the same but close. My mate got his bike nicked from outside my house as he was poping in to pick up his wallet. The bike was chained up. Anyway we immediately went out looking for it and found the little scum riding it (we assumed back to his house). He was 2 years above us in our school.

Anyway we legged it after him and asked for the bike back. Only to be shouted abuse at and threatened. My mate went a tad spare (Expensive bike). He was 2 years above us in our school.

In the end he ended up attacking us and we kicked him in and took the bike back. Police wanted us to identify the guy for the bike nicking but our parent's didn't want us to be seen in court and attacked afterwards. But we gave evidence anyway and ended up with the usual threats at school, but no harm came to us. Which townie admit they got kicked in by someone 2 years younger than them?

Give the evidence, but inform the police of your fears and they will take a record of it and if anything does happen to you they will know your previous fear/reason.

Lol.

I just had to drop my charges against a 14 year old (the incident involved 9 of them, 2 of us) due to finding out more about his family that id ever want to know

The little shit punched me out the blue, split my lip and knocked an incisor out aswell, i didnt even see it happen it was so fast, while i was reeling my mate said to them 'WTF U DO THAT FOR?' at which point he was pulled to the floor and given a severe tanning.

If it wasnt for the fact that there was so many of them and they have cousins and brothers and people that would kill my family id have gone ahead. Even if it was just going to put a little blemish on his criminal record as hes a juvenile.

Also im getting compensation in the region of £2500-3000 even tho i am not pressing charges so its not all that bad.

My advice, you or your friend should only gop ahead with charges if you know for a fact that there will be no repurcusions as it will only happen again when you least expect and your tempers may be a little jaded from the last incident in which case you will end up in court in a tit for tat argument/fight/war.

Its a dangerous game pressing charges against people you dont know especially if they are local as they 'themselves' dont have to exact revenge by them doing anything.

Im not scaremongering here, make sure you know what/who you are dealing with, had i not had acquaintances that knew more about the shit where i live id have had 4 brotherts all my age and one was a county kickboxing champion all without me knowing.

Think long and hard, theres a chance itll blow over but are you willing to risk that? If theres an element of risk, get it put on record and hopefully/more than not thatll be the end of it. If you dont it could be worse than it already is.

The way the Laws in this country are dealt with, its unfortunate that victims like us have to withdraw and hope nothing else or happens for fear of repercusions

This was 2 weeks ago FYI

agree with dmw, let the police know your concerns and god forbid anything happens they'll know who to go after, if you dont give evidence it'll only let the scumbags off the hook and you may lose a mate.

had something very similar to dmw and the worst i got was verbal threats.

I agree with the telling the police that you are worried about things happening afterwards but you will also find that they have a job to do and WANT to 'solve the case'

Its a very sad way this country is going to. When a gang of Gobby bullies can have a freehand at what they do and the real victims have to live in fear of the repercusions for being a generally alright member of society.

Maybe I'm an optimist, but I'd hope that in similar circumstances I'd do the right thing, and give evidence against them, whatever the consequences. Standing up to scum is the only way to stop them.

Too many people turn a blind eye.

My dad had to go and give evidence, he was attacked.. but kicked their arse :D

I always thought he was soft, 3 men stole a plant from our shop (40p or so :p) my grandad saw them and confronted them, as they didn't run.

They then argued and smashed my grandads cars wing mirror. My dad came out and asked wtf they were doing, they called my granded some names and he proceeded to kick their arses :p

He had them all on the floor when the police came

Sidenote: When those pog (?) pod? Well those small round card things that were populer a few years back.. when they were all in fasion some teenagers stole a 2pence cane, I saw them and my dad chased them to the church yard, he grabed two and threatened to take them to the station if they didn't pay the £1 (although the thing was 2p retail) they didnt have fuck all but 200 or so pogs, so I got very rich in those iddul things :D

They asked if they could have them back for a £1 the next day, he then asked them if they wanted reporting ;)

This is what made me think for a whole 2 weeks what i should do, thing is the very morning afterwards i got a call from somebody who told me where they live and names. And after lots of research i was definately right to drop the charges.

It is a shit that they can get away with it but not all cases are the same and as i explained, mine was an unfortunate one, my friend couldnt understand but after i told him, he saw sense. That and the fact he's just moved to london and wouldnt have to worry.

My mum and sister live less than 2 miles from them in the same neighbour hood and my sister is always in the papers because of her daughter that has Leukemia and the last thing i want them is to suffer

Keep thinking that when they do it to the next person and the person after that and then when they start doing more than just beating people up...

Am i supposed to feel guilty about that? Hes a minor, hell get nothing but slaps on the wrist till hes 16-17.

I however am in danger of getting my legs broken, its not that i dont want to get him everything he deserves, unfortunately till the laws change he would carry on regardless

lol, Care to elaborate? :)

Actually i think i know what you mean, and if I am right, no i wasnt, there is far more to this than ive told everybody, and the information regarding the family/cousins is no word of a lie.

I basically did the right thing and I dont really want to go on about it, was just answering Leggys post with a suggestion/advice

You mustn't let a little shit like that rule your life. You need to find a way to communicate this to him in language he understands.

Well, I have just had an email from my mate in Amsterdam and it appears that the court case will not be going ahead.

I can only say that I'm relieved although I have no idea atm why it has been cancelled.

I can only assume he has changed his plea. I hope.

If you watch the extras on the DVD they were trying to do it for ages, then they did that take and everyone was just taking the piss, but they ended up using it.

I think now would be a good time to give my crime story.

Once upon a time, just have he had dropped out of Uni, ickle Will took a job as a counter clerk at a small sub-Post Office.

One day, a poor person decided he wanted a bit extra on his Giro. So he donned a balaclava mode out of a large sock, some kid-sized gloves, and found a stout stick he could pretend was a gun. He then burst into the Post Office, and threatened ickle Will.

Only a few people here will have been threatened with a gun before, but they'll know what I'm talking about here. Everything slows down, and you look straight at the barrel. Now, when it isn't hollow, you very quickly realise it isn't real.

However, I still had someone pointing a stick at me, demanding I "put the money in the bag". I looked at the manager, he looked at me, and then he asked the man to "please leave the office now Sir." Post Office training in action.;)

Two days later he showed up again, this time with a gun. He strides up to the counter, and, just as he had rehearsed, he cocked the gun and tried to look threatening while demanding that "this time give me the money". Remember those kiddie gloves?

Well, cocking the gun caused the chambered round to pop out and land in my tray in front of me. With the tiny gloves on, he was left scrabbling to pick it up, which left me more than enough time to hit the alarm.

When he was finally caught, he waited till the day of the case, then plead guilty.:)
