Just had a call from a witheld number to my mobile, picked it up and it started a dialing tone?

I haven't done that feature where you can auto-ring back when someone is engaged, so would I be right in guessing this was some scam call..

Is it possible if I had held on and the call connected it would act as though I had called some premium number charging me an obcene amount?

We get them to our house a lot.

It's when the auto-dialers dial your number but there's no-one available to take your call - hence just a dial tone.

those scams ones you are thinking about get you to press a key like 9 to connect you to a premium number

I've been getting withheld calls all day. Contemplating buying a phone which auto-disconnects any numbers which are withheld. (Which would fuck up family calling, so it's a big pro )
