Wish you were here - Limp Bizkit?

I think I have to first start off by saying I'm a big Pink Floyd Fan. Although sadly I never got to see them down to only being 23, I still regard them as one of the most inspiring bands for me personally and covers such as the scissor sisters doing comfortably numb made me feel sick.

Wish you were here, the first song I ever learned to play and sing along to at the same time and the first song I ever showed people with singing as well, holds a lot to me personally.

Limp Bizkit were and still are one of my most hated bands. It was a bad era for 'heavy metal' and such when those and other bands such as papa roach and Linkin Park came into the scene in my eyes.

This cover however, I'm not sure whether I like or hate. I don't like the idea that they decided to try and get their own publicity from 9/11 or that they changed the words but I thought I'd see what everyonelse thought about this.

It sure as hell aint as good as the original but if this was a stand alone song with no 9/11 thing, what do you think?

If they got rid of the damn scratching decks, let wes borland do what he's good at (actually a very good solo guitarist) and stapled fred dursts feet to the ground to stop him jumping around (perhaps stopping him from repeating the same line over and over again like he does for every song to get the crowd going), then they might be ......better then a simple 'meh'.

I'm covering the whole of Dark side of the moon this summer for a few nights with some friends. Pink floyd are some of the most incredible musicians ever.
I do not like this cover.

Youre still able to see Roger Waters perform the Dark Side of the Moon from time to time. Its REALLY a great show. Saw him on Roskilde last summer. On the top 3 concert experiences in my book. He played Shine on you crazy diamond (whole fucking thing) and the Dark Side of the Moon.

Can't say i liked that cover particularly. Pink Floyd are amazing though, bought 2 tickets to see roger waters at earls court but went into debt so sold them for close to £200

Easy Dub All Stars do a good rendition of Dark Side of the Moon - Dub Side of the Moon. Not a big reggae fan but its fucking great. Not quite as good as the original obviously but i'd say it does it justice and recommend it to anyone.

Yeah, because I love music. Just because a band covers a song and doesn't do perfectly well, doesn't mean it's been destroyed. I mean, look at all the songs that have come out that's been covered?

Metallica - Tuesday's Gone. - Not as good as the original, so it's been destroyed?
Korn - Another Brick
Disturbed - Fade to Black.
John Cale - Hallelujah.
Etc etc etc etc

List goes on and on... But when you get people like Eminem, Girls Aloud etc covering Aerosmith songs, and completely ruining them; that's when you should whine.

Limp Bizkit were never that bad? Yes ok, Fred Durst, typical arrogant frontman. But if you ignore his antics off the stage LB are a perfectly likable band. It was just the start of the Emo craze, when people started saying that popular music must be rubbish because lots of people liked it (and therefore weren't individuals like them) that Limp Bizkit started getting a bad name.

When I was a skater back 5 years or so ago, Limp Bizkit were a great band to listen to. Good rock sound, and they didn't try to preach that their lyrics meant something. It was just good fun. Listen to whatever the hell band you like, so long as you're listening to them for the music and not the image, you're fine.

I didn't say I don't like all cover bands, sheesh. In fact, I only mentioned the comfortably numb and wish you were here covers. Personally I think many covers are better then the original.

Metallica - tuesdays gone i beleive to be better, as well as their cover of blue oyster cults astronomy. I don't wanna miss a thing which aerosmith covered was better then the original, even machineheads message in a bottle I liked. Johnny Cash's hurt, the list goes on.

I dare say my own covers of bands aren't as good as the original but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy doing it either.....

Got to admit, Cash's cover of 'Hurt' was actually really good, not going to find somebody to cover it better tbh. Though, I love the original version. (Want somebody to cover 'Closer' honestly )

I personally think that new Girls aloud version of walk this way needs to be burned and girls aloud hanged from the lamp posts.

However, I always liked Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach at the time, I never tried to be hardcore and underground in the rock scene that's what my love of dance music was for . These days however I find myself caring less and less as I get older..if a song is good whatever the genre i'll have a listen, age does that to you and i'll leave the trash talking to the kids.

If you don't like a song don't listen to it! I never understood why people would shit on other peoples tastes, I do/did it but I don't know why, people should be free to listen to what they want imo. "Metal fans" are the worst for that kind of shit, everything but their music is crap and there is no compromise which is a shame as I enjoy rock and metal and often go to concerts even though my heart is in Dance.

Not true, I consider myself a "Metal fan" but I listen to everything else aswell, since my music taste has become wider... The comment is true for pre-17 year olds though, which I find funny.

I started liking them cos of their agressive style, but now its just cover songs and shit.
