Whichever, m8! Not sure about DPC anymore, though. I used to order a lot of stuff from RS...;) On irc I'm usually PC or Da Cat.

The WinXP disk tells me I have a few compatability issues - which I expected, apart from Norton, which I upgraded to the XP ver only a few weeks ago! Grrr.

Also think I might go for a fresh install on a new hd just for a laff, which means pulling teh crate apart & trying to get my head round jumper settings...

Want to get this done b4 da Mousie returns on Tuesday. Fu kit! She's been & got a tattooo, ffs, so I'll show her with a pretty new os!

/me sits back & waits for HS:WF Helmet Man to appear...

/edit mobo eide controller & ATI All-in-Wonder 128 :/

Norton has a different install for Windows 9x and Windows NT - as in, different executables and set up.
9x version scans on startup before windows loads, the NT version appears to do it some other way.
Whatever the reason, you'll have to reinstall Norton.

I have both of those and had no problems at all.

Disco - make sure your motherboard is using the latest BIOS, fella! XP demands tight ACPI code, so an upgrade now may well save time and effort in the future.

LOL, I fucked that up when I updated to XP too... manged to fubar my BIOS until, for some random reason, it one day decided to let the keyboard work and I was able to do it again.

If Fatty would kindly NOT relay my exact words of the moment I'd be very appreciative and might consider not maiming him.

Bah I just bought a Adaptec 1200A raid card but now the system won't recover from hybernating, only a shutdown is acceptable.

Anyone know why? :(

Why do you need to? If it aint broke, dont try to fix the feker.

But if you do, make sure you read all the help files at your mobo's support site first.

I plonked XP over 98SE yesterday too. Actually started doing it on Friday but forgot to upgrade the BIOS as mentioned. FS.

It's running kind neat now, and the format of my HDD did it a lot of good IMO. :)

I tried to upgrade from 98 to XP Pro, and it was wank, when I did a full, clean install of XP on a nice, sparkly clean HDD, it was way better.

That's ACPI, too! Check the Adaptec site for a firmware upgrade for your card, fella.
