Cisco gear is generally the best you can get. If you dont have millions to spend on kit though, you should be looking at lucent (aka Orinoco aka Avaya for wireless kit) gear. Very reasonable pricing with very good performance and driver support.

I'm gonna say
Go for D-Link, imo.
Their AirPlus stuff runs at 22mbps, if your base station and cards are both d-link. Also, they produce an all-in-one PCI unit (rare, apparently...), so you don't have to buy a PCI BUS and a PCMCIA wifi card.
I'm using a DWL-520+ card ( http://www.dlink.com/products/digitalHome/wireless/11b+/dwl520+/ ) and Apple Airport Graphite Base Station at the moment (which is, yes, PC compatible), but the Airport's range is seriously disasppointing. I have every intention of investing in a d-link DI-714P+ ( http://www.dlink.com/products/digitalHome/wireless/11b+/di714p+/ )as soon as I can afford, since live in a house with five girls who *don't* like tripping over wires on a morning. The DI-714P+ has 2 chunky aerials, a four port hub, print server and firewall built in too.
So, if money's not an option, I'd love it if you bought me one, too
