Windows XP + DAOC = :Puke:

I've recently baught a new computer, which came shipped with Windows XP.

I installed my version of DAOC on the new computer, to find out it doesnt work. (It was from my old computer - Win 98).

So, my question is:-

How do I get DAOC to run with Windows XP?

Problem Solved

silly me, it was nothing to do with win xp.
it was that i didnt have the cd in the drive

went to rightnow to ask them, and since you have to search for a question before asking i searched for 'windows xp', found one saying 'my daoc wont start after i installed it' - clicked on it, and voila!

it appears the first time you start the game you need the cd in the drive.

lets praise the ingenious rightnow.

i never should have doubted it.

I have a similar problem too!

heh i just installed XP (after formatting both my disk drives) and Camelot. The game wouldn't start after i clicked on the executable...instead it runs a program that says 'Sum" on the title bar and it's actually a window that says 'One moment please'. Then it disappears and nothing happens at all. I have checked that i do have the cd inside my cd-rom...and when i do not have the cd in, the running of the executable does absolutely nothing...not even the small window...
Any ideas fellas?

I had the same problem when I installed the game. Apparently they're using some cheesy cd-protection scheme that makes some cdrom-drives choke on the cd, and messing up the "brilliant" sum function that obviously has to complete in order to play the game.

All customer-support could tell me was, that I just had to keep trying, and trying, and trying, and at some point after twenty-something tries, it did indeed pass and let me play.

it's the first letter of your the first name you used to register with, and your last name.
so in my case (Soulcatcher Taken) it would be staken

Hint: put you're password in a txt file on you're dektop if you're not arsed to learn it like me

First time you start the game, just write in your username as usual. Next time you start, open the dropdown menu on username and select the one you wrote the last time. After that the launcher should remember your username as usual.
