Windows Movie Maker, Is there anything that's faster?

I am using windows movie maker 2 to transfer a friends christmas video to VHS. WMM seems to be taking forever, does anyone know of a program that is faster at creating the finished video?

Yea you can use virtualdub, its the most powerfull, allso hardest (complex) tool i have ever seen, many tutorials on google tho..
