Shamelessly based on GReaper's Android Apps thread, anyone have any WinMo must-have Apps that they use to impress the ladies?

Tbh only non-stock application I have on mine is PIMbackup, and Putty for WinMo.

Any contributions?

First of all flash a ROM that includes the latest build of WinMo6.5 and TouchFLO3D-2. The latest versions are showing a lot of stability and nice features. Something like this one for the Touch HD.
[ROM][WWE][03.08.2009] Miri WM 6.5 23017 :: MANILA 2.5 :: REV6.1 [ONLINE] - xda-developers

Must have apps...

  • TomTom7
  • Resco File Explorer
  • Opera Mobile
  • PHM registry editor
  • PIMbackup
  • Google Maps with Latitude
  • VNC client
  • PuTTY
I also like having GCz for my weekend geocaching. :)

How would I know if my phone is capable of running that ROM? I checked a few pages on that thread but don't fancy reading all 51 :). I've got a touch dual which is 400mhz, 128mb RAM, 256Flash and a 240x320 screen.

I've not dicked about with my WinMo much - what're the odds I'll brick it?

This section of XDA-Dev is specifically for your phone...
Nike upgrading etc. - xda-developers

Make sure you read the stickies about Super-CID, SSPL, USPL and Hard-SPL.

And this is an example of what I was talking for your specific phone.
HTC Touch Dual(NIKI*) 21827 Aku5.0.60 WWE v2.11{2009/8/7} - xda-developers
A recent build of Windows Mobile 6.5 along with an up to date version of Manila (TouchFLO).

Put it this way, I've yet to own a HTC phone and NOT apply a custom ROM to it. :)
I even tried the Hero ROM on my wife's Magic (288MB) and it was sweet.

Eep, that looks like a lot of research required. I think I'll do this when it's no longer my main phone, should be getting the Hero soon. I'm gunna have a fight on my hands though - orange's "unlimited" data package is 500mbs, T-Mobiles is 3gb. That'll be a fun chat with retentions :).
