Windows Media Player keeps crashing

Anyone know how I can stop my windows Media Player from crashing?

It plays avi and mpg files ok but wmv files its crashes on.
It also crashes when I try video streaming on the net as well.

There is no error message other than the XP one which says its closing the program...

Its very strange...

I've got the latest version and running winxp. Ive reinstalled Media Player and the codecs but still no luck.

Is it consistant for all .wmv or just a few? Have you tried if the results are the same in another player? It could well be the files themselves, no?

Its for all .wmv files. The files work fine using a different player but I hate real player or quick time...

What is MPC?

Media Player Classic.

I find it to be a small and swell player.

Installed any semi-legal codec packs? That could be your problem.
