Hi guys,
I've been having some issues; I recently decided that after 6.5 years of having Vista going slower and slower, to take the plunge and get a SSD to install Windows on. I'm happy with how fast it's running and everything but have big issues with my connection and updates of all kinds.
1)Windows Updates fail: the percentage of this failure is pretty consistent with the size of the file. My visual studio updates (E.g. SP1) simply will not install and come up as failures. It has taken me around 6 hours of constantly restarting updates and rebooting to get to this stage.
2)Steam fails to update: I deleted all but my steamapps folder and steam.exe but need to download a 96Mb update which fails and restarts when around 25Mb into the download (not always the same place).
3) IE10, Firefox, chrome, all of them, when attempting to navigate through pages, occasionally simply don't bother to load a webpage and stay blank. Okay this is only a case of a refresh but still, it's more than a little irritating.
4) Downloading files such as DirectX SDK, most of the time the files do not work and I have to redownload them.
I'm guessing this is a case of wireless data corruption but why is it not being handled by Windows? Anyone ever come across this? At present I am using a wireless receiver (AWUS036NH) with drivers all installed and the following adapter settings:
Client for Microsoft networks,
DNE LightWeight filter,
QoS Packet Scheduler,
File and printer sharing for Microsoft networks,
IP6 and IP4,
LLayer Topology Dicovery Mapper I/o and responder.
Any help would be HIGHLY appreciated... this is not at present a fun weekend...
