where can we download a copy of windows 1.0 then?

i was quite looking forward to trying it.

My old, old, old computer had that. It was an 086 (yep, thats right not 486, not 386, not 286, not even 186, 086!) and boasted a whopping 8 MHZT Proceesorer and HUGE 20 MB Hard drive, and, unsurprisingly for a windows machine, it never worked, even before the milienium bug eventually killed it. :) :)

I'm not picky either but even win95/98 could be stuck in the same bracket.

I just looked up Operating System in an online Computer dictoionary...

OS
Operating System, the basic instruction set used to provide a computer with the routines necessary to communicate with the user and hardware devices.

Nope, im none the wiser.

Quite possibly, but sometimes it's not DOS you see working it's the POST and BIOS thingy wotsits doing their bizz.

Although i could well be wrong about that...
