Win2000 Problems

Ive just reinstalled quake3 after a while and applied the version 1.27g to it. Now quake3 wont load in win2000 professional. Is this a known problem? If so, is there a fix?

nevermind....some spanner hadnt allowed quake3 access to the internet on his firewall
