Will these parts work together? (For new PC)

Never fully built a PC before from scratch and I'm going to be doing it for my next one. - As I don't like buying PC parts online I'm going to be buying (look around ofc) the parts seperately. So for finding the primary parts I'm looking at PC world... So would these work together:

Would all these pieces work together? (Yes, I'm willing to change bits if needed) Also; what cables would I need? Would I need to buy them seperatley?

Few things

Cables wise, you get all those in mobo box (the ones that arent attached to your power supply, excluding a uk power cable)

Hard drive: fork out for a sata one over a crappy standard pata drive, cheaper if anything

Where is your graphics? (i assume you do want to play games )

AM2 performance difference at the moment isnt that huge, main advantage is memory bandwidth, now is currently the best time so far to buy socket 939 gear, its amazingly cheap (£98 for a 3800 A64 processor). I wouldn't consider AM2 really for the extra cash you'll pay

They will work together yes, but please for the love of god dont buy them from pc world.

Not sure why you wont buy online but can 100% assure you www.overclockers.co.uk are excellent take a look at the site and see what you think, if you absolutly must not buy online go to a fair or something.

@Naffet: Haven't picked out the GFX card yet since I'm not sure how much I'm going to spend on it when it comes to it; what's the best for £100-£250~ Was hoping for something in the ATI line which won't kill cash but will work with any game (and is faily newish) & Any link for the SATA?

@Yeke: Alright, I'll check them out PC world is the closest thing to a computer shop without me going online, hense why I allways check there first (too see how much they charge, then take away about £70 ) - And I will not forget the case!

For the stuff I listed, is there anything newer/better in general? - Anything I should actually change for the better?

Overdriven, please consider other cooler options, especially Zalman coolers are fucking awesome.

at full load my cpu is at 40 degrees, and graphics card at 46 degrees
and that is with fans running at lowest speed, there is no noise or what so ever, and the little there is will be shadowed by your harddrives.


and about SATA drive, Seagate have recently released a new 320 GB disk that is so cheap its unbelievable, but its still good quality, its called something with 7200.10, in denmark its like 70£ for that disk.

When you get your mobo i will bet you get problems with it being compatible with the cpu so one of the first things will be to update bios

well they will work together nicely but it might be unstable if you dont update it

Instead of the mobo, i'd recommend an Asus or DFI one. The 4400+ 2x is only a minimal step up from the 3800+ 2x, but with a big price tag. The PSU maker isn't of a well known make, and so i'd recommend going for a Seasonic, Enermax, Antec or an FSP. Also the new Seagate 7200.10 s-ata drives are far ahead of the other makes atm.

As suggested above the zalman coolers are damn good, i'm personally using a CP9500 flower on my cpu and a pair of vf900's on my gpu's.

Personally if I was buying I would be tempted by the new AM2 chips offering some fureproofing but their price tag isn't for everybody.

Also about the case, If you're willing to pay for a good case then look out for a Lian-Li v1000, otherwise the Antec Super-lanboys are aparently very good for their price

Just a Note on the Gfx card, At overclockers this week the BFG 7900gt OC is on offer at £191 inc vat... that's pretty damn cheap
