While Wilier is basking in his celebrity status I'm gonna sneak in and hijack the thread.

I need a really cheap cooler for my XP2500+ that will let me overclock it. It's idling at 52°C at the moment and my CPU diode just set off the MBM alarm at 70°C. Using the AMD stock cooler at the moment and it appears to sucketh greatly.

Clown told me to get a thermaltake heatsink and buy a seperate fan but they look pretty expensive. I'd rather not spend over £20 if I can avoid it but if anyone knows somewhere cheap to get the thermaltake SLK-947U then I don't mind going a few £'s over.

Just spend that little bit extra. Trust me, you won't regret it.
Or don't buy anything, you won't regret that either - your chip should work fine at 70 degrees.

I ordered that thermalright 947U and a 92mm YS-Tech jet engine because I want to be like you. I've got one of those nexus coolers and it's nice and quiet but wanted something with a bit more oomph for my gaming machine.

If I break my cpu installing it will you buy me a new one Clown?

I may be wrong, but I think the Thermalright heatsinks need bolting from the back of the mobo, just in case you didnt realise.

Yeah thanks for the warning I don't mind pulling my mobo out. give me a chance to get rid of the dust build up too. Was £30 for the sink and fan from overclockers.co.uk, and that's including a slightly steep £8.50 delivery charge. Lucky that I like royal mail special deliveries.

You can have your thread back now btw. It's only slightly stained :)

I'm overclocked by over 700mhz, idling at 10°C more than you, in near-silence.
My face rocks.
