Me and a few mates are planing a long weekend in June/July to take a tent and camp out for a few nights either in somorset or down in devon.

I have been looking about on the internet and not coming up with much, or at least what I am finding is for caravan sites etc which does not interest us at all.

Does anyone know of any places down in that area where putting up a tent and getting a small fire going is permitted? where does the law stand on national parks etc?

Not much help but Plankey Mill near Hexham lets you light a fire down on the rocks near the river :p

You can light fires anywhere in Crawley, they do prefer you to light your fire from a burning car though.

Thats a crazy coincidence, I was planning a camping trip with a lady friend of mine and I was thinking the same thing, proper camping with a fire coz I'm not paying some caravan site money to pitch a tent and sleep in a wet field full of old people and or pikeys.

I think you just need to get the permission of the owner of the land.

In Devon or Cornwall you will need the landowners permission, normally a farmer, who will more often than not tell you to fook off.

On the moors (Dartmoor/Exmoor) you will not be allowed to camp or light fires and there are park rangers who will move they on if they find you.
