production costs, the games companies have to get the dev kits and what not, much more research into the consoles capabilites.

(and a little bit of greed ofc)
Apparently Wii would require little developping costs, as it's simmilar to the gamecube, which means the games should be pretty cheap. Or so I've read.

With dev kits, do you mean they have to pay a huge fee to be allowed to program games for the console? Imo, it should be in the console companies interest that game companies create games for their machines. Ah well, guess its another example of the wonders of intellectual property (i.e. "we made the machine but we arent satisfied just with selling it, we want money whenever someoen else creates something thats to be used with it as well").

Sony will have a Developer relations team that will help out game developers loads, as will Nintendo and Microsoft. I'm sure each manufacturer helps out the game companies loads so its not like they pay money purely to be able to code a game for the console. Although I appreciate the help isn't paid for, it just comes as part of it i guess.

bought every console released on these shores since i was a young lad, although since discovering CSS I have lost all interest in single player games on a console. I will however be buying a wii because of the Multi player games that will be available, Smash Bros and Monkey Ball are all good fun. I am looking forward to the downloading of old games aswell fingers crossed for SoM

There's an item about Xbox, PS3, and Wii in London's Metro paper today.

Wii is NOT as powerful as the other two machines. I think they said its more for kids. The PS3 is the ultimate games machine. Full version goes on sale in the UK in November priced £410 for 80GB hard drive and all the bells and whistles.

and as we all know, children dont have fun, and the only decent games involve killing everything in your wake
die die dieeeeeeeee!!!!!

sorry what were you saying? :p

nah I am just looking at it in terms of how I enjoy games thats all :) for me cartoony style games and the likes of mario etc really just dont do anything for me in terms of looks or gameplay/content :)

I aint one for all out killing of everything either lol, far from it, I just prefer games that have a more realistic and graphic content/plot/gameplay.

Kids can play whatever the hell they want I dont care, I just know what I like and so far have yet to be impressed by much from nintendo :)

I never planned to get a new console, but I must say that Nintendo's doing a very good job at convincing me to buy one after all. I don't care for more and better graphics. Gameplay improvement and innovation is what matters and the wii controller certainly has that.

<thinks of a 4 player smash bros fight with everybody frantically swinging their controller around>
<thinks of a sword duel>
The possibilities...

nintendo are more games that you pull out at parties and everyone has a go at, PS XBOX are more serious, look at the DS and PSP, completely different i have to say i find the multiplayers on DS more fun than PSP. I think they have done another great job at doing something no-one else has done (like the touch screen on DS) i just hope that it doesnt fail like every other nintendo thing. Will be interesting to see more of this (i refuse to call it Wii) Revolution

Have to agree with Sparx, the new Nintendo looks to be a sure winner for a great evening with your mates tbh.
I use my Xbox mostly for the fun singleplayer experience, but I'd bring out my gamecube (or my old N64!) for some fun with friends, and that's what the Wii seems to focus on.
