Couple of years ago I went into my local Comet and saw a Technics 5.1 HiFi priced at the price of the regular non 5.1 (nearly 50%) price difference. When I enquired the manager gave me a smile and agreed to sell it at the reduced price, when I went back a couple of hours later to pick it up all the other ones they had, had been sold to the staff for that half price :)

example b)

My dad recently went into Comet again and was looking at buying a Fuji Digital Camera Thermal Printer for something like £300 they had an offer on, "buy any digital camera and buy this thermal printer half price" so my dad bought the £35 digital camera/webcam and although the offer wasn't meant for that camera they agreed and did it. A very nice printer it is to :)

All of which shows that the smart (?) shops will realise that good customer relations are worth more than the money they may lose by honouring a wrongly-priced/worded offer :)
