Why the extream moderation all of a sudden?

You know, I've really had enough of this. We don't moderate people complaining, because we're not fascist at all and let people say what they think. And because of this stance we get thread after thread slagging off our decisions, our ability and our approach.

Abusing our powers? Our priveledges? What priveledges? Has someone stolen my company car? What have we to gain? Fame? Wealth? Notoriety? It takes a hell of a lot to offend me, and the only time I've ever been truly offended on these boards was when people posted pictures of disabled people to laugh at. Yes, I edited out those posts, but I've never ever edited out anyone slagging me off, though I've stepped in before to stop other people getting flamed. There are people we talk to in PMs, warning them about their behaviour, asking them to be more considerate, because sometimes publicly lambasting people isn't the way. How then are we abusing our powers? The only way I can see we could abuse our powers would be to mod people who slag us off, which we blatantly aren't doing. All else is done for the community.

Right now, I don't want to be a mod. I was meant to leave ages ago because I have a lot of study to do, but I stayed because I like the community and wanted to still help out. If I still feel in a few days time that I don't want to be a mod, then I'll ask for my title to be taken away. I'm pretty damn sure nobody here mods so they can boast about it to friends, play puppet master or swirl their black cloak over the virgin tied to the train tracks. I'm pretty sure a big motivation is to help this community out, not to get burnt at the stake on a daily basis.

If you've written a one line flame, that contributes nothing more to the community then telling someone they're a "fu**ing retard", then if its found, you can expect it to disappear. Has it occured to anyone that the increase in moderation might be related to an increase in reported posts and people complaining? I've heard from people who have left the forums entirely because of the flaming and aggresion.

If posts are spammed with repitive stock images, then they might be moderated. It murders the 56kers and is really just spam.

Nope. Not to my knowledge anyway. Considering how BW General goes sometimes there's pretty reasonable order here for the large amount of daily posting traffic. Other than the influx a couple of days ago of the bunch of people from the that guild forum there's been a general increase in reported posts as a whole. But even so, the level of moderation to keep the balance hasn't really increased that much, just people seem to have suddenly developed a taste for complaining about it since we had to replace one of the mods (/wave daddy dansk).

I'd also like to know what these priveledges are too btw please

I cant say I've noticed any real increase in moderator actions these days - however - there has been a lot more whinge'ing about mods.

Im thinking in particular about the Tilde bashing threads a lot of which looked to me like jealousy.

I think that the overwhelming majority of people have a lot of respect for the moderators on these boards who have helped to shape this community.

Sure we have some erm... excitable members but they'll soon find a new shiny thing

Mods closing threads because it contained something the mod already knew and considered "old" don´t help the community.

Mentally deranged people like Gunnerr and k9 and [insert a lot more people here], trolling every second thread, insulting everyone and spamming their "k"´s because they think they´re cool don´t help the community.
