Why so much for such a small scroll?? I have just checked consigments and i need : mad tales 3,regarding shades 3,malice 3 . But i have just abt 10 plat and all those scrolls are 10plat +++ so i think they should be lowered especially regarding shades 3 to at least 10 under. All scrolls should be 10plat under :p

Theres a big difference between whining and making a factual statement.

Wrong. There is no concept of supply in demand in DaoC as the buyer has no effect over the prices the seller sets on item on their CMs. The only way a buyer can affect the price is by buying all instances of an item, and reselling for a lower price. This is why the DAoC economy is forever broken.

Also, consider this. A 15p price tag on a scroll equates to 15,000g. Thats just for one scroll. Now consider the how much 15,000g means to a lvl5 character, for example.

I left DAoC some time ago, frustrated by greed (e.g. groups perma-farming the Dragon and still selling the skill respec stones for several platinum, wheres the supply and demand there? I saw people with dozens of respec stones in vaults!) and by ridiculous prices for items such as scrolls. What the DAoC "economy" means is that everyone needs to be greedy and ruthless in order to save the kind of money they need to buy scrolls and respec stones etc.. themselves. A economy built on pure greed.

You can choose to call it greed or you can just call it normal human behavior. I know I have built up a minor fortune which I put in alot of time and effort to achieve. I also know that if I really want something I stop to think about if I wanna spend a piece of my fortune on saving me some time, or I just rally those friends I have built up in the community/guild and go get it myself.

So my advice to those who whine over prices is that you go and get it yourself and if prices are so high then maybe try to set an example yourself. ;)

No bashing intended just that whining here wont get you anywhere. Selling stuff cheaper and also getting your friends to do it will probably have more effect in the end.

I needed Malice 3 for my zerker, but didn't want to pay 10, 12 or 15p for it, which was the prices on the cheapest in housing at the time, so i went to ML7 to get it myself.

After almost 20 hours in there not a single Malice scroll had dropped. No shades 3 or Mad Tales 3 either.
That's why they are priced so high, because it takes time to get them. Some of the prices are too high, but noone is forcing you to buy them.
When we have DF, me and my bot can get maybe 1p an hour if things go really well.
When it took me 20 hours without getting any of those scrolls, the prices on Malice 3 didn't seem so bad. I suicided and bought the whole book for 15p.

I've sold the 2 battler books and a couple of other scrolls i got in there and that have paid for that Malice book. I even have some cash left. :)

You don't need a lot of people to farm in ML7. If you don't have a bot, get a shammy friend.
Maybe then you'll see how hard it is to get those scrolls and why some scrolls are worth so much. ;)

well it all depends imo if you have a char you can farm
with for exampel warrior then farm 1-2hours and with
a little luck you will have 10p but if you dont got any
farming chars 10p is much money.

its not that much that can be done about it, except in some patches ahead they will change drop rate on scrolls from what ive heard, will make scrolls worthless.

very much doubt scrolls will become worthless, afterall I doubt they will increase the droprate by an amount that will render scrolls worthless. They will still need to be farmed and some will always prefer to buy the scrolls from others instead of farming them.

this is really easy , prices are based on an assumption of how much time the scroll will take to get , ofc you can be lucky and get on first mob , but then again you can be unlucky.

and if a scroll seems pricy you can allways go test your luck.

on a side note if you feel prices to high i recommend settin up a farmgroup and put scrolls you get on cm for a price you find fair , for the greater good :D

excactly, nobody forces anyone to buy stuff, just farm them if you dont have cash to buy them.

All good if you have loads of lvl50 chars...and a buffbot. But if you don't? If you can't farm ml7? Please tell me how youre supposed to come across mad tales 3 or malice 3 if you arr'nt already 50 and loaded with plat?

First of all, get ML3. That's not too hard. Then get a few friends together(that's what you have guilds for) and go farm.
It may take you a few hours to get what you want or you may not get it at all.
You will, however, get a few other scrolls and those you can sell so you can buy what you want.
Tata, you get the scroll you want. ;)

If you can't go to ML7 dungeon to farm, go kill the mobs in Typhon/Ashen that drop them, whith a few friends.
Some people farm ML7 for hours to get these scrolls and they may do it only to sell them so they can get cash.
Do they sell them to get rich or do they sell them so they can buy things like Zahur's Ring, Ring of the Heavens or other really expensive items?

Who cares? Farm or buy...

I'm not a greedy person and i sell the scrolls i have fairly cheap, but i may have spent several hours to get those scrolls.
If i sell them to make some cash or if i give them away to guildies, that's my choice.
It's your choice if you want to buy them or not.

those arguments realy doesnt hold mate, you dont need to farm in ML7, because they drop of mobs in ashen isles and Typhons reach, and if you have a lvl 50 char and absolutely NO friends at all :eek7: that would be very wiered if your not ebayed or anything

If you just lay down flat on the ground giving up at everytime things doesnt go you way i realy see why you quit daoc
