OK, of all the suggestions so far from ppl "testing" (lol) on Gorre, this is the dumbest.

hmm aimbot sounds good but wait i expect a dedicated daoc players allready made one seeing as they got all that time on there hands.

that would be absoloute crap. evryone would play get bored the quit camolot. ur lettin noobs go level 50 and basically play rvr.
but i would love to keep gore open that way to many people cant play it and uve got that feelin, hey i want to try a level fifty fire wizard or lurikeen scout

That's retarded. The only people who would actually "get bored and quit" are the gimps who only play daoc to pve and who see getting level 50 "the hard way" as some kind of achievement (in other words the ones who still don't get that EQ will always have 100x better pve). So it basically means we would lose Svartmetall, and that's not a bad thing. Then again you're not forced to use the Gold&Glory "balls" anyway so the pve gimps could play the game exactly the same way they do now, just don't use them.statued said:

Again why? Its for testing the patches, not you. How many ppl can say they have tested new quests on gorre, how many have tried finding the new atrifacts? Timed spawns? Checked and reported poor translations? Or done anything than spam the G&Gs before setting off to emain to wtfpwn, respec, test new RA / spec / toaster and repeat?Vasconcelos said:

as an english player i enjoyed having the chance to play the 3rd realm on a regular RvsR server, even if it was just a test and insta ding50/rr6. Wouldnt care much if i have been a german or french, but for english players i bet it was an experience (at least i know it was for some).
Why not? The US players have had pendragon like, forever. They test alot more stuff than we do (every patch), buggier patches, it's open to everyone and it doesn't seem like the end of the world have hit them yet atleast.old.Whoodoo said:
That's a good argument except that you forgot one little thing: The patch currently on gorre is NEW FRONTIERS and the whole point of that patch is, as the name implies, new frontier zones, new keeps, new siege, new realm abilities, different RvR balancers. GOA understands this obviously since they opened it to everyone and gave free 50/rr6, to bad such an "elite tester" like you don't get it.
Besides, I bet enough dumbasses like you have tested those lvl 30whatever artis that noone cares about, not to mention that all of the above have been tested 100 times more already when it was on pendragon, and last I checked translating english to english wasn't all that hard.
Finally we get to the real reason you wouldn't want the current Gorre to be permanent. You're special cause you're an E&E and get to test stuff on Gorre. Forgive us your highness, the rest of us obviously aren't worthy to set foot on your server.

Gotten bored of Gorre, the OMGOSH factor of being able to make a rr6 lvl50 in a few minutes don't last long, tried most of the ra's classes and specs I wanted, if main servers was like Gorre atm, what would be the point?
One part of the fun of daoc is charactor progression, building it up in both PvE and RvR.

There is some merit in having a Gorre NF Beta-like server on a permanent basis, if GOA had the resources. Heres the reasons why I think it would be a good idea.
Levelling characters in DAoC, regardless of changes in 1.70-1.72 is still too daunting for the casual player. I have friends who like the idea of playing DAoC (and therefore paying a sub), but who totally don't like the idea of a 3-4month (levelling a char with artis to a standard that isn't fodder in the frontiers) grind.
Changes Mythic make devalue characters so much, that many give up rather than roll a new char. I am in this category. I made a warrior some time ago, levelled to 50 without visiting Moderna, agonised levelling artis to 10, endured (tolerated?) several incomprehensibly daft ML raids with zergs and lag from hell, and for what. Mythic announce NF, and unintentionally or otherwise nerf heavy tanks in the process. I had more fun in the first two weeks of Gorre than I have had in the previous 3 months of DAoC. This alone is a reason for GOA and/or Mythic to consider a server where casual gamers (not non-leet, non-skilled or noobs), but casual in the sense that some players simply cannot justify to their wives/gfs/kids/husbands spending another 4 months grinding a fotm class to the frontiers cos Mythic nerfed their main char.
Gorre was fun, in a modified form, it could be great. It reminded me why I enjoyed DAoC in the first place. Sadly, the game has evolved into an endless grind, which can only be overcome by buying a buffbot account or by devoting an inordinate amount of your spare time to try to bring those 3-4 months to something like 1-2months. Either way, the casual player, like me, finds it harder and harder to justify doing either of those things.
When DAoC first started, there was a sense of accomplishment that came with levelling chars in PvE, questing for those uber items, defeating some badass mob, grabbing a relic. But its all been done now. And I've done it all, over and over again. My position is that I still enjoy the game immensely, but I really don't think that I have the time or energy to roll and equip a character that is actually going to be beneficial to my realm, and more importantly, fun to play, come 1.70.

It would be nice to have somewhere you could go to test different specs and RA's before you blow how ever many plat it is for a stone now, like the yanks can, on Pendragon (free respec stones there, so they can just /charcopy, respec, test on the special test mobs mythic put up, or Vs anyone in rvr), rather than just relying on what daoc.catacombs char build and VN board can tell you about the spec...
You would be surprised. We get the international version of DAoC, and it is (subtly) different from the one running on the US servers. Each time a new patch is introduced on the internal server for testing, you get a surprising number of inexplicable bugs that really should not happen--things like keep doors not being able to take damage, NPC mobs being bugged, character names looking like they are constantly selected (like we had on Gorre, not sure if it is fixed yet), and on and on. DAoC servers are hardly shrink-wrapped products with thousands of hours of testing on various setups, they are adapted to work on specific computer systems and require a fair amount of tuning and customization.SethNaket said:
