Rant Why is nothing ever simple? (estate agents are still fucktards in a recession thread)

Why can't people just do their fucking jobs? I left the flat I was renting in the UK three weeks ago. My landlord assured me that he'd contact the estate agent straight away so they would release my deposit back to me (its one of those deposit protection schemes so the landlord doesn't hold the cash). Since then, nothing. I gave it ten days, nowt. I phoned the landlord "oh, I didn't realise I had to put it in writing, I'll do it now". Nothing. Ring the estate agent, "you'll have to talk to the landlord, we won't do anything" (of course they won't they've got my 2 grand earning interest). Landlord starts ignoring my Irish phone number, so my girlfriend calls him on her UK mobile, he answers the phone straight away; "I'll send an email now" he says. Two hours later, nothing.

I don't get it. There's no possible reason for my landlord to hold things up (he doesn't have the deposit), so I just don't understand why he's being such a fucktard.

And to add insult to injury the estate agent took out an extra months' rent after I left, which sent me overdrawn. Twats.

Pisses me off because I'm a landlord as well and I wouldn't treat people that way.

Yeah, that's the scheme I'm in, but I'd rather leave it until the last minute to start that shit, because once officialdom is involved, I'll get my money but it could take months. Its 15 working days as of today, so I can actually start proceedings if I want to, and I have to do it before day 28 if I'm going to do it.

Pisses me off when people do stuff like that when it's simple lazyness.

Don't get me wrong - I'm a lazy bast at times but I'm the only one who suffers there. When other people are riding on it - I make damn sure I do what I've said I'll do.
