That it takes something like the fatal RTA I witnessed on Saturday afternoon to make the authorities do something about people speeding and warning people about nasty roads???

Because people feel that they have a right to drive at stupid speeds, even though the consequences are really fucking obvious.

Grrrr, idiots. The speed limit is not a target.

Of course... It's a rough guide for new drivers with underdeveloped genitalia.

As for the actual reason. In reality the people who make the biggest fuss will more likely get action, having a fatality to a cause bumps up the attention somewhat and lifts something from the 'back burner' to "OK, maybe we ought to do that after all" status. Sad really.

-- I don't doubt there's some cases of "too much to do, have to prioritise" in there, but it's still not good enough.

I'm guessing you want the 'paint loads of lines on the road, lay some speed bumps down, put more signs up, consider a speed camera' kind of response?

Tell us more about the accident, and perhaps the discussion will open up.

actually yes it is :kissit:

allthough in reality it takes a few conditions to apply
a]ALL drivers drive at the speed limit
b]Pedestrians DO NOT randomly jump into the path of on coming traffic

Ok, more details about the crash...

National speed limit road (60 miles/h)

Car involved, it has been concluded, was only 5 miles above this speed limit

S bend in road, although in no way sharp.

Just lost control of car.
