Prices for smiilar homes in England, even further from urban centres than the ones above are so much more, jeez cottage in the first link is just 45 mins from Edinburgh and an hour from Glasgow....

Can think of no where else in these isles I would rather live than the Scottish countryside, If I never make it back to Oz I could see setting up shop here.

1st looks as though it needs a ton of work doing though.

First one is about the size of a decent garage! Second one looks like a prefab portable home, the sort you see in US trailer parks. Third looks like a 1970's council house. All three are horrible.

The pub only has a 13 year lease left and you are buying the business and would have to run it as a going concern. Pubs are fairly shit businesses due to the breweries wanting all your profits .

Ugh, those three places are shitholes.

Everything is relative up here; cheaper houses (generally...) but also lower salaries overall. This is one of the main reasons my sister (who lives in the Isle of Dogs) is selling up a "pokey" three bed townhouse to move back to Scotland for something four times the size surrounded by green. In Scotland, good houses / flats in good locations still cost a lot of money, for example:
