Ok, so my father works for Intel, and he earns a decent income, nothing major tho, but enough to able to live comfortably in a bog standard Housing estate house in Ireland but by no means rich. Anyone from UK or Ireland will know what im talking about, semi-detached 4 bedroom house, rows upon rows of identical houses.

Anyway hes been offered a difirent job by the same company in another country, ie they will relocate him, slight and i mean very slight raise in income, but hes taking it mainly for a nice chance to live in another country for a year, with expenses paid, so he will save a good bit of money.

Anyway because this is a new project in this country they are trying to make a show or somethin, because you should see the flippin mansion they are setting us(not me, im not going ;/ but rest of family) just to give a good impression.

most of the pics are crap(cause my dad is a nub with technology, go figure) so heres one
http://members.boards.ie/das/resized_diningroom3.JPG

now thats the fecking dining room, jesus christ thats about the size of my kitchen + sitting room here in ireland.

Why cant they pay us enough to live like that here in ireland?!? Its peanuts to them greedy gits!

P.S. This aint a boast thread, cause number one, I aint actually going, ill be still living in my shitty shared student house cause of college, and number two, im sure theres some rich feckers here who live in mansions three times the size :p

You're mad because a big company is letting your family live in a mansion?

Oh my life doesn't seem that bad all of a sudden *cough*

How dare they?

I don't get it. Your family is off for a year to live in a huge house and therefore you hate big companies ?

Think about the flip side. A small company probably wouldn't have the funds to be able to do what Intel are.

Also its your dad's career, so its really got nothing to do with what you want / like (and as you say, you've got to stay here to study).

IMO, get a girlfriend and forget the whole affair :)

where as in ireland a 3bedroom house can range from 200k to 1.7 mill Eurons.

Seriously , I'm moving from ireland to the UK , as things ( well the further north in england you go the cheaper the beer gets) are cheaper in general.

Plus when i do come back home to visit my Sterling will be worth so much more.

As for renting , I lived in Turku , Finland for a good few months, My brothers came over to visit, the apt. i had cost myself and my then partner 420 eurons a month, in dublin , to be the same distance from the city center it would of been at least 1000 each ...

Ireland is just mental

Yeah, the apartment rents are not too bad here in Finland. Here in Tampere, Finland (a place similar in size to Turku), a 2 bedroom apartment will rent for around 600e/month. 1 bedroom apartments go for around 300'ish.

rofl we live in a tiddley 2 bedroom flat (2 beds, i lounge, kitchen & bathroom) its small but does us well we pay £425 a month for that (bills not included)and believe me for this town thats cheap!

when i went to visit me rellies in Oz they showed me the sort of place i could afford if i moved over there no kidding i almost shat a brick (but i didnt cos that'd be rude) it was massive huge garden, hallways HALLWAYS! and closets! and room!i think my point is that in the uk we get stuffed with property so your folks mansion in that other country prolly doesnt cost the company that much money.

i saw a relocation show where you could get this giant farm house with about 50 acres of land and a river for about £50,000 in france tbh why anyone still lives in the uk is beyond me its so expensive.

The thing about selling up and relocating your life to another country (typically Spain, France, or Australia for many Brits) is that unless you sort out all your problems beforehand, you'll take them with you.

Saw a prog recently about a couple who moved from Blackburn to Australia thinking it would transform their lives. Yes the new property was cheap and massive. The weather was gorgeous. And so on. But they still argued about the same stuff they did when they were in the UK (mainly eachother). They've since moved back and divorced.

Ok.

In other words the move to Australia was the best thing they had ever done but the relationship was fucked before they even got there. It could transform a couples life if they still cared for each other...
I don't see the point.

The point I was making was that these people obviously didn't want the relationship to work out. They thought moving to Aus would do the work for them.

when i went to Oz it was totally different that what i expected and my sister (she lives there) was telling me about all these folks who move there thinking it will be just like neighbours and everyone like paul hogan etc etc when they get there they cant cope with the heat, the flies, the mozzies , the fact that everything there bites, most stuff kills you, etc etc so on and so forth and then get totally depressed and move back to uk except with a LOT less money.

My point being that its always best to go to the place your planning to move to b4 hand to see if you actually do like it rather than just the idea, and tbh like lamp said if you have stuff your trying to get away from (internal struggles shall we say) then where ever you go, they go.

I agree

I live in a house 20 minutes from Dublin City-center (with route 38, 39 or 70 :)) with too others, 3 bedrooms living room and kitchen (very nice place though and worth the money, almost) we pay 1150 euro a month in pure rent, add to that, electricity, gas and internet and we're talking 1300 euroes a month :)

I love living in Ireland though, so much better than Denmark :)

Your tone regarding your father Melachi is condescension and ingratitude.

How's college life? Struggling to eat each week?

Thought not.

You have zero idea about the real world.

Hell, I wish I could even afford to buy a bloody house in my area :(

Can't even afford to buy a 1 bedroom flat and I don't ever see that changing. UK house prices are a joke :(

It sounds like you hate them coz they won't give your family more money...
I hate them coz that dining room is about the same size as the place I rent with my GF...

If that's the biggest gripe in your life atm then you're either spoilt or out of touch with reality...
