No offence, but anyone who starts a sentence with "i'm not racist" is clearly racists.

It's like those people who post, no offence, actually meaning to be offfensive.. o wait...

I'm not going to watch the video, because it's probably racist, as you started your post with 'i'm not racist but...'

However, i do genuinely wonder why foreigners do come to England when most English people want to leave!

Grass is always greener... etc... oh, and England got some really nice bacon... and good bacon is always worth a trip...

From what i've heard, England is filled with high rent, high cost foodstuff, people who hate you for what you look like and people who look like the others hate and parmo.

I'm glad to say, and i think England is too, that i won't be moving there any time soon :p

Free care for the elderly. I think thats about it =)

Oh and our tap water is better than bottled water.

We (Scotland) only have to worry about the Polish invasion, but they are actually (for the most part) hardworking and don't colonise parts of the country =)

We should of adapted the free education system when the French did. *Pissed that he is technically a french citizen, but because of being in the UK since *insert date* he isn't able to claim the free educationness* :(

how do you expect the system to afford free education?

And people wonder why schools are all geared towards getting people into University.

I'm not too much of a fan of immigrants(from any country) who come here to live off the country either. Those who work etc, come in, have fun, enjoy the buffet and if you've worked for a year or so, sure, take some time to find a new job...but just coming here for free healthcare, cash and education, not a big fan.

Not to say all immigrants are this way.

where i live unless you want to work in unskilled labour forever there is no choice but to goto uni.

the colleges are ran by idiots (my tutors were not actually the correct teachers for the classes we had). very few places offer apprenticeship schemes. i managed to get one and an assessor never visited for over a year, so i was stuck there earning 200£ a month untill i walked out and worked in a call centre. again, unskilled labour but its the biggest employer in the area so what does that tell you.

so what does that tell you.

Like so much else in this country, the education system is a mess.

I broke the mould and didn't go to uni (not because i'm thick, but because i've no idea what i want to do with my life so feel there is no point getting into £30k of debt getting a degree you'll do nothing with). I now work an office job, better, and instead of a crap degree like Drama i have 3 years of decent work experience. People worry that they won't get anywhere if they don't go to Uni because what they're told by the government and their Schools, but it's bollocks.

people doing drama degrees are the ones making it worse.

if you do a degree for some bollocks like that, as in just for interest purposes you should be paying more. if youre doing something worth while like engineering or nursing it should be cheaper.

imo ofc.

Going to uni is a bit silly anyway, as Aoami said, especially if you don't know what to do.

You work those 3-4 years and make, say, 40k easy. get an education of the job, get paid a bit less then the guy goind from uni to the "highpay job", but you're up a good 70k since you don't have a loan and worked the time.

So divide that, and the uni guy maybe reaches the "benefit" of the education etc in 10-15 years.

Or something like that :D

but it depends on where you live. there is no opportunities (that ive ever seen) to work in an office job etc here without experience. even to work on a till everywhere is asking for previous experience for fuck sake. its not a skilled job, yet you cant even get on the ladder without having had skill in the first place.

btw, 40k in 3 years? in an unskilled job?! no chance.

the only places to work where i live without an education or skill is in a factory, a fastfood joint or a call centre (even there you need GCSE though). all of them pay minimum wage, and in this day and age you cannot live on 10,000 a year on your own.

Well the numbers are according to your country ofcourse, but the general idea of my point was there. The time you make the debt in school, in my opinion, should be used to work and gather cash, THEN go to study if you want.

Should go: basic ed -> some job -> learn life -> go to adv.ed. -> do stuff.

Is it so impossible to move somewhere else in england? Just asking, not saying.

As in, heck, my mom moved away when she was 15 etc. I went off at 14-15 too.

im guessing its a lot cheaper to live in your country tohtori :)

a basic unskilled job is only going to get about £700 a month.

not everyone is in mega debt from uni either. ill owe the student loan company about 7,000 and thats it.

heres the deal breaker too. unless you get a job earning over 15k ( i think) you dont even have to pay it back.
so asuming i come out of uni and end in unskilled labour i will be no worse off than if id not gone to uni. because there is no way i will earn enough to have to pay back the loan (assuming i dont get a skilled job).

the only thing ive "lost" is 4 years of work XP. but ive worked at least 2 years worth in that time anyway so im hardly losing out there either. pluss 2 years working before i even got to uni. so ive had 4 years work XP, hopefully a degree when im finished. and if i end up in unskilled labour im no worse off. to me its the only sensible option!

That's still quite a bit.

But, i wouldn't call finland cheap. Might get, 1500e/month(if very lucky, dunno, haven't checked minimums), but with taxes and other thingies, it's down to a 1000 quick. Then things cost, due to more taxes, alot in shops too. Not to mention living costs are ridiculous in the main areas. Lucky if you can get a 25m3 with 400 :p

I'm not saying it would be "easy street" going for a job straight up, but advancing in it etc, you get to a nice place in the time it would take you to go through uni and with some sense, could have a nice nest-egg compared to the uni-kid with loan.

Then go to uni if you like and you get out "scott free".

but, arguing this owuld be pointless as it's different countries put against eachother :D
